Hey guys, yal please ignore my ignorance and help me out here :fingerscrossed: I'm having a couple problems and I'm not sure if they're connected or not. First, it has a rough idle and is surging at idle. Doesn't matter if the ac is off or on and it doesn't do it in park/ neutral. You can hear it and feel it. (I'm not sure if this is normal), but the Boost/vacuum and fuel/air gauges also fluctuate at idle when it's happening. Secondly, I've noticed when already cruising at 60 or so, if you try to fully accelerate the car will make fast clacking noises and will not want to accelerate. It is fine if you gradually get up to more speed, but full on acceleration won't happen. It kinda jumps like it's trying to, but can't.

I've seen forums about a vacuum pump on the intake cam not being tightened that produces a noise, but that doesn't explain why it won't fully accelerate. The car is completely stock, except the spark plugs being changed about a year ago to NGK. I've read a misfire can cause both these symptoms, but does that explain the noise? Is there anything to check to help figure it out?

First off welcome to the forum. The gear heads might need a little more info, like how many miles are on the car and you say spark plugs were changed a year ago but by whom? My gut tells me either throttle body dirty or going bad, or the plugs. From what I've read the EB is fussy about having the right spark plugs.

Thank you :) There are quite a few (mostly highway) miles at 74,xxx. My boyfriend changed the spark plugs, but like I said that was about a year ago, and these problems just started in the last two months or so. We also had to change the fuel pump about a month ago, it was still working but making a louder than normal whining noise. But that didn't seem to help/hurt these problems at all
