Well since the new Mustang will be getting MyFord Touch I hope it is somehow different (in layout) than the current Fusion/MKZ/Focus style.
Hopefully it's a completely new generation of MyFord Touch with a multi-touch screen 2GB of ram and Snapdragon 800 CPU.

This would be my preference for all engine options.

Track Package
- MyFord Touch/MS SYNC/etc. delete
- power/memory/heated/etc. seats delete
- nav/backup cam/misc. nannies delete
- sunroof/moonroof delete
- automatic/paddle shifter/DSG/etc. delete
- leather delete
+ Torsen LSD
+ manual 5 or 6 speed
+ lightweight cloth Recaro seats
+ Bilstein suspension
+ lightweight wheels
+ removable rear seats
+ power locks/windows
+ start/stop button

Keep it simple and light.

Yep, I want everything as a factory option, with "option" being the key word. I would love to see the return of a true "base" model.

I am ok with power windows and locks, and maybe even A/C. But I don't need(or want) anything else.

I have to agree and in fact when the Mustang was first introduced back in the 60's this was how things were done. You could get the entry level stripper model or you could option things out and add interior upgrades like the center console etc etc if you wanted to. Personally I wouldn't mind an entry level no frills V6 model. That way I can add the options I want myself over time by either going after market or via the Ford dealer parts department.

I will second the dual clutch w/ paddle shifters. I like a lot of the other options mentioned, but most of them are more likely to happen. So dual clutch is a wish list item for me. It would probably be the only way I would get this car without a manual. It doesn't seem likely to me. Does Ford even make a good dual clutch transmission?

Lets add upgraded Brembo brakes to that list too :D

If I could expand on eurospeed's Track Package:

1. lighter rims

2. performance tires to wring the most out of the car

3. lighter rotors

4. heavy-duty clutch AND hydraulics (assuming the clutch is hydraulic, lets get a bullet proof slave cylinder in there) No sense getting into the details of the clutch disk, flywheel, and pressure plate, but a disk that can handle some slippage w/o burning up would be great (because toggle switch clutches suck the big one)

5. a shifter and linkage attached to the trans, and not the body, please!

6. dry sump? Don't know if there'll be space underhood for the reservoir, lines, and pump, but this one change can give a multitude of benefits, if Ford would want to take advantage -- and if they could pass the $ on to enough perceived customers.

7. cam/intake/exhaust revisions for increased low- and mid-range torque w/o (or with as little as possible) high-rpm torque loss.

8. electric water pump? Don't know if they are reliable enough, and legal in various racing classes, but they work great in NHRA stock classes. Significant HP savings...

I have many more, but I guess that's enough of a wish list. I think the first three are w/in easy reach. And I, for one, really hope Ford commits to a 'direct' shifter and linkage -- the current design begs for troubles, imo. Dry sump is probably too far out there, but the LS7 has a dry sump, so maybe... ?
