I just bought my first S550 after selling my '06 that I owned since new. It's a Shadow Black GT Premium PP1 with MagneRide. The car came with the luster nickel painted aluminum wheels: Front - 19"x9" (255/40 R19) & Rear - 19"x9.5" (275/40 R19). I would like to replace the wheels with a set of black or gunmetal wheels & was wondering what are good tire/wheel sizes to go with without losing the ride. I'm tossed up on a couple different styles. Still looking. Any info would be appreciated.

I have the pp1 black wheels, I would give anything to have the wheels you have on your car. I think they look awesome!

They really are nice looking wheels & I don't see a lot of guys running them. I'm getting the windows tinted next week & I'll see how I like them afterwards. I originally planned on blacking out this car but I'm still throwing ideas around.

Can't go wrong with a set of Shelby CS-11's. But, I might be a little biased. :giggle:

They also come in gunmetal...

Congrats on the new ride!

I love the luster nickel wheels on your car. If you wind up selling them I'd like the opportunity to by them.

I am running 275/40r19 on 19x9.5 front and rear. (Same size as your PP1 rears.) Offset is +33 though so they sit further out and more flush with the fenders. Now I just need to lower the car some.

Hey, why the heck do you want to get rid of those wheels? In case you didn't know, they're FORGED. Why pay extra for heavier, AND most likely, weaker wheels? Just powdercoat them, if you want a different color. But the design is awesome, and much less common.

Thanks for the info. I may just do that.

Floyd Bennet Field? I'd hoped to work a event there this fall, I was going to put the OT toward my next set of wheels. Are the Essens flow-forged? Weight?

Yes, Floyd Bennett. My go to for data logging and hooning. I live 15 minutes away.

These are not flow forged, but cast. Weigh about 27# each.

Set of 4 with the tires and TPMS, ready to bolt on cost about $2200

Good looking wheel, but a couple lbs heavier than I'm looking for. My Black Accent wheels are about 26 lbs and I'm looking for something that's a couple lbs lighter to offset any increase in tire weight when I go from 255/40 to 275/40 or 285/35.

Those wheels are 8-1/2" wide, no? Since you need wider wheels for wider tires, it'll be pretty hard to find anything that weighs 2 lbs less than those. And if you find them, they'd be crazy expensive. Plus rather than focus on a certain weight, I'd focus on the proper STRENGTH, at the minimum possible weight, even if it's a bit higher. That's why it doesn't pay off to just put giant tires for looks; it's stupid for performance. I think PP1 sizes are a perfect compromise for our cars.
