Just wanted let others who are unaware, like me, know that Geico will cancel your policy for running your car at any race track. I just received the letter in the mail informing me that they have cancelled my mustang policy for "unapproved modifications and or racing." I called for an explanation, all they said is they don't allow racing. So I will be taking my 4 other cars and boat somewhere else.

1/4 mile at the local track. Only went twice this year. I have no idea how they found out. The person I just spoke with would answer that question. I understand that if I wreck the car at the track it wouldn't be covered but cancelling me just for going down the track??

Wow, thats crazy! I just switched from them but for the past 2 years I have had this thought in my head the whole time because I autocrossed my Focus ST and I always wondered if they had people snitching at events because this is not the first random cancellation for racing I have heard of.

Is this sarcasm or for real? Seems crazy to pay someone to go to a track and scout license plates.

Also yeah it seems very odd they are canceling over that.

No, I'm totally serious. A friend is an agent and he told me that on occasion they (the ins. co.) send a guy to the track and he photos plates and they check them against there insured.... They send him a list to go through if they find any that match.

They have a huge issue with racing of any type, huge liability!

Talk about a slow day at the office lol. On a personal note though that really annoys me because my local drag strip is open to anyone with a license and it's a great way to get kids to stop street racing. Anything that makes the track hard to access is dangerous in my opinion

do you happen to have 1 of those devices that records your driving? (to give discount)

either that or what voodoo says.......i wouldn't put it past an insurance company from doing so.

I agree, so does my agent. He said remove plates and slide something over the vin plate. He said they aren't allowed to touch the car, no opening doors and stuff but can take pics of vin tags and plates.

Keep in mind, I have no idea the legalities or if he is full of shit or not. I have no reason to doubt him though.

Exactly, not because I total every car I drive or multiple moving violations, but because I trailered my car to the track and ran it in one of the safest environments possible to run the car.
