Hi All, finally took delivery of my 17 Roush Stage 3! It's based off of a 401A PP with the redline interior. Amazing experience. Happy to answer any questions you all may have about Roush or how the order process works. Cheers!

Stunning, absolutely stunning :headbang:

Is the '13 Boss staying? Would love to see photos of them together.

I'd also be interested to hear more. Is this your first Roush? How was the ordering/delivery process? I'm a big fan of Roush, particularly this latest one :)

Thanks, good eye! So no, the Boss has had a great 4+ year run with us, but my husband has had a GT350 on order since May of this year. COTUS has his delivery set for none other than Black Friday, so we could be saying our final goodbye as early as next week. Here is one of the only pics I have so far of them together:

I do have this one of it with my S197 GT/CS. I traded the CS for the Roush:

This is my first Roush, and has been a long time dream of mine to be able to own one. I did have a few Roush parts on my old Mustangs, most recently a Roush axle back on my CS - LOVED it.

The order process was pretty exciting because I was able to pick every single detail that went into the car. My local Roush dealer (Elder Ford Tampa, FL) had a nice variety of RS3s in stock, and let me take multiple test drives over several visits to help solidify my decision. Most notably I wanted to see how 'livable' the car would be to DD. This will be my DD, and I was a bit intimidated by the power. It drives like a big power GT, and the same things that are bad decisions to do in a GT also apply here - just be smart about what you do and when/road conditons. It's not some unwieldy harsh animal. The big take away here for me was how seamlessly integrated the Roush up fit was to the base car. This could be an OEM product, and by argument it sort of is considering how closely intertwined Roush and Ford Performance are to one another. There are no funky considerations or modes you need to swap into to have fun...no quirks that I have found so far with the car...it just works as is an absolute joy to drive.

The order process was simple. Once I decided I was ready I specced out the GT donor car portion, and then the Roush options. Roush actually provides a workable spreadsheet to the dealer that you can use to input your selections. It also has required color/stripe choices and dependencies factored in, so it's a pretty clean ordering process. The only caveat here (and this is something to consider) is unlike a typical Ford order you cannot just go through the dealer order system and boom you have an immediate order summary and a DORA to confirm what you input. The Roush donor car and upfit are all recorded by your salesman and then communicated to the Roush regional rep for your area. The rep actually places your order, and your donor car is actually ordered to "Roush Industries" and not "you" or "your dealer:"

Once the car goes form Ford to Roush it takes about two weeks for the car to receive the conversion and go through all of the QA/QC. I had also requested that Jack Sr. sign the car, so it waited a couple of additional weeks until he was back at the main HQ to sign. That was well worth the wait to me. I also received the alignment testing results from Roush along with my manual:

I placed my order in early August, and took delivery last Friday (11/11). Again, a two or so week delay waiting on Jack to sign, and then an extra day or two at the dealer because I had the spoiler painted gloss black, windows tinted, and the block plates removed from the exhaust. Funny thing is the dealer didn't even know when the car would arrive! The salesman can call the regional rep at any time and get a general idea of "yes we are expecting your car to come from Ford any day now," but they really don't know. This is not a precise process, and you cannot use COTUS for it. In fact I got a call from my salesman on Monday of my delivery week saying that he had confirmation that the car would arrive by truck sometime that week, but he did not know the day. He would know once it arrived. Three hours later I got a call from the body shop saying that my car had arrived and they wanted to confirm that I wanted a gloss paint on the spoiler and not a matte spoiler swap. Quite the disconnect! But at the end of the day I got EXACTLY what I ordered and could not be happier. I just think it's important to be clear on expectations. If you want a custom build you will have to wait about three months, and you will more than likely have to be okay with not really having a way to track the vehicle. Roush actually sent me a surprise picture of my car on the line while still at Roush, so you can message Roush on Facebook with a description of your car, and they will send you a pic of it if they see it on the line. I actually did so like two months before I got my picture from them, and even forgot that I had sent the message. Needless to say it was an awesome surprise! I have nothing but the highest compliments to give to Roush. The car is a dream come true, and the fit and finish on it are superb.

Oh another point worth mentioning: You can use X-plan on a Roush order, and all applicable Ford incentives. The X-plan and incentives apply to the donor car portion of the order.

Happy to answer any questions on any aspect of the car. There is not a lot of info on them out there!

Cheers

Thank you for the comprehensive reply! And what fantastic taste in Mustangs you have! Definitely worth waiting for Mr Roush to sign it, too. A great touch.

You two don't want to adopt a 44 year old English Mustang fan, do you?

I love how closely Roush work with Ford and agree this is as good an an OEM product. Seemless is a good word.

Thanks for the photos, too. The Cali Special was gorgeous, too......and I have a soft spot for the Boss as my friend has one in Gotta Have It Green. Of course, photos with the GT350 when it arrives are a must

Do you have a sister that likes Mustangs, I'm local and ummm asking for a friend :D

Awesome cars thanks for sharing the process. I had Elder put Roush upper/lower grille and fogs on my '13 GT and they have a nice operation there.

Thank you, and no worries - MSRP is 70,574, but I got a healthy amount of discounts on it. X-plan, discount on the actual Roush package, and several Ford incentives. The price is highly dependent on the donor car too. You could theoretically base one off of a 300A.
