I got these all of four weeks and four days ago......

Billet "caps" for everything, but the oil cap itself was a complete replacement. Guess which one found it's way from my car?

My wife has had the car all week, so I have no idea when it exited the car. The only reason i even noticed was the smoke/oil burning smell from the car tonight while on our way to and from a concert.

Got them all from American Muscle. I'm really weary of what to do here, and I didn't keep my stock cap, so the car is basically undriveable till i walk down the road or take a cab to the dealership so I can buy a new stock cap.

This kinda pisses me off in a major way since I had sworn off buying anything from American Muscle ever again, and as a goodwill/gesture to get me to be a customer again, they sent me these caps for my car, along with a good discount on a Mishimoto coolant tank.

Well shit. I hope they'll do something about this, but I have a feeling it's karma biting me in the ass.

Everything is positively soaked in oil and it's a LOT OF OIL no telling how many quarts i'm down or if damage was done to the car.

I am trying my best to not be livid.

that definitely made a mess. Nothing unusual on the oil pressure gauge? Could you tell if the aftermarket oil cap secured the same as the OEM oil cap ?

It should be fine unless you lost 2-3 quartz and have been driving for awhile like that. Looking at the pics, looks like you lost maybe 1/2 a quart at most.

But let the car cool and check your dipstick and get a new one from the dealer. Sorry to hear, your Stang is a stupid pretty! It'll all get workout!

oil psi at idle was still around 20ish. I'm fingers crossed here that It just dumped some oil like a CSI crime scene.

cap absolutely seemed to fit fine, but nowhere as tight as the stock one. I'm betting from the comments on it that the o-ring is the culprit. I remember the comments said that it wasn't a tight fit and they swapped o-rings from the stock cap over to it. I distinctly remember swapping the o-ring for a tighter fit, but if you've ever taken the stock plastic one off it's a tight fit.

i bet via thermal expansion it vibrated itself right off.

One of the reasons I hold on to the stock parts; with the exception of the exhaust. You never know when aftermarket stuff can fail. And I wouldn't be overly concerned with damage. Due to the viscosity of the oil, once it heats up it can spray all over the place, one quart can look like three. Like a crime scene on Dexter. Just take your time cleaning everything up and you'll be good as new. Could have happened to anyone.

i pulled a few bolts and looked, and the cap was gone, but it's late and we just got home from a concert so I'll have to fully pull it tomorrow and pray that it's still around.

That oil cap has 5-star customer rating on the A.M. website. I am surprised nobody gave it 3-4 star for not fitting as securely as OEM.

Most people tend to either rate something at max or at minimum. Hardly anyone gives a legitimate rating that's somewhere in the middle--it's all or nothing for the average public.

CHROME MUSTANG OIL CAP

The chrome oil cap along with the other chrome caps looks great. I have one complaint. The O ring that came with the cap was not thick enough and didn't seal the cap. I took the O ring from the original ... oil cap and now it works fine.

Great quality piece, but needs improvement.

I purchased the 4 piece set for my 2012 GT, and all of them but the oil cap fit perfectly, and have no issues. After driving the car and the engine heats up, the oil cap slowly starts to twist open. The OEM oil cap is plastic, and fits much tighter in the oil port. I noticed the gasket on the OEM cap is a little thicker and seems to seal better. The metal cap is heavy, and the heat generated by the engine slowly backs the oil cap off. I noticed this because I saw oil residue all over the valve cover, and it was because of the cap opening up over time. The quality of the piece is excellent, but something needs to be done to be sure it can't back off. The factory plastic cap doesn't do this because plastic doesn't absorb heat like the metal piece.

Those two comments stuck out and one is all the way back from 2010

2 out of how many? That's actually a really good review.
