So, as promised here's the day as it unfolded. In short it was an amazing experience and meeting some of you Snorty, car_ter2903 Gibbo205 stevec) and seeing some of the forum members cars CapitanPug Centurion07. - pictures in the masses are at the bottom
The drive there was easy it went through all 4 seasons however I secretly wanted the track to be slightly damp, to experience the car in those conditions.
Upon arrival to "The Wing" I was greeted by the sight of no less than 50 Mustangs. Eyes alight with excitement. I parked up (unsuspectingly next to Mr.Carter).
After getting into "The Wing" I was presented with my own guest lanyard, as everyone was, and the missus with a Yellow wristband being a visitor. Headed into the conference room, grabbed an OJ, and sat down waiting...
Well, waiting until Snorty came in and introduced himself as the first forum member there asking for me (My girlfriend thought I was some kind of Celebrity, lol...Infamous indeed).
Anyway, Andy Barratt came over and introduced himself to us, asked us how we were enjoying our cars (No comments on that from me...) and told us he was losing his next week!
We had the safety chat from one of the instructors, and then headed downstairs to get in our cars. I was given a Ruby Red Convertible Manual Ecoboost (Thanks again Ford for sorting that on such short notice!). Everyone got in their cars, all 4 of us - A white GT (Who almost went into the walls), Snorty 's Magnetic GT , car_ter2903 's CO ecoboost and another gentleman, who's car I can't even remember as I don't remember seeing him on the track (Must have been that far behind me lol!)
The instructor asked me what I drove, what my experience was etc, so I explained it to him and he told me he'd be pushing me to the limits, along with the car and how it handles, knowing that i had no RWD experience. We set off (After I found how to use the wipers  - as it was raining...) and he took me on two test laps explaining the track, getting the car warmed up etc. Next it was my turn.
Okay, there's a rush of excitement of sitting and driving a Mustang 10MPH to the Pitlanes, but, when you're presented with the pit lane and asked to take yourself on the drive, it's completely different! Once I got on the track I don't think I can explain the Excitement, nerves, giddy-ness etc. Anyway, I made it onto the track, and took it steady the first two laps as per Gibbo205 I still hammered the car coming down the straights, hitting easily over 100mph, boy does that car f**king move! Anyway, a few laps in, I switched to Sport, and pootled around, well, until Village when my Instructor, In the rain, told me to hammer the accelerator on the corner, causing me to skid everywhere, completely lost control, ESC did a stellar job of sorting me out over 1-2 car lengths. Complete bum quench moment. He then chose that moment to tell me about 'The string' Which is essentially as the wheel becomes more straight feeding more power into it - I knew of this, but not of the severity and how drastic milometers will effect the way the car handles.
Anyway, other than that, I took the car to over 120 down Hangar straight, wizzed past and forgot to tell the missus how to use auto focus on my camera (So driving pictures look silly) and had a break halfway through, which was great.
After the drive, I drove the car back, it's seriously not as big as you'd think it is when you're driving it, there was a semi-closed gate my instructor (Wrongfully) took me through, I thought it'd be a squeeze but breezed through it, parked the car up, got out and composed myself!
Next up was a tour of silverstone, which, was good, there's some pictures below, got to go on the winners podium, and, as everyone who went, got a certificate to say that they'd 'Experienced the 2016 ford unlearn performance drive event at silverstone circuit' with a picture of them on the podium. We went inside of the Pit Garages where the new GT-Le Mans (Ford GT, not Mustang GT) and previous GT models were, what looked like the 'show' Unlearn TY GT, and some older cars - race knowledge dies post 2000!
Thank you so much to Ford, Karen & Stacey, Andy.B, Nigel and whoever else was involved with this day, in my opinion it was a great success and I loved every minute of it!!!!
Anyway, The pictures:
Balaclava we got to keep - Might come in handy, Lanyard, and the certificate + picture
