I've noticed this on and off and I finally got a photo of it. Sometimes it looks like the glass is out of place or the motor isn't pushing it all the way up. I'm not sure if this is just a convertible problem. When it doesn't close all the way even after trying a hundred times, I would have to push it up by hand.

Anyone else have this issue?

Having owned convertibles in the past - to me, it looks like the window is either not following the track, which could have something to do with the guide rollers or the window tracks have become detached from their mount points. If the tracks are loose, when the window motor is in operation, it could torque the track which would cause misalignment.

Question:
When you have the top down, and put up all of the Windows, does the same thing happen, or do the rear 1/4 windows match the fronts without issues? If they are aligned and match the fronts without any issues when top is down, the the problem lies within how the top is coming in contact with the rear 1/4 windows. It could be that the window is getting stuck or can't smoothly close as it should if it's binding on the top.

I would take it to your local Ford Service Center - that should be covered under warranty for sure. Before you do though, contact DEYSHA on here who's user ID is "Ford Service" - she can set up a case number with you which will elevate your concern so your bumped priority wise with your FSC.

Yup, only happens when the top is up. Top down, windows align perfectly

You may need to re-initialize the rear windows. Here is the procedure:

De-initialize the window. This can be accomplished by removing the window motor fuse while the window is operating. After the motor has been de-initialized, re-install the fuse before proceeding to the following step.

NOTE: The door MUST be closed during this procedure (for convertibles, the top and quarter glass must be in the CLOSED and UP position) in order for the door window motor to initialize.

1. With the door window in the fully OPEN position, press and hold the window control switch in the UP position at the second detent until the window glass stalls into the glass top run for at least 2 seconds. Release the switch.

2. Press and hold the window control switch in the DOWN position at the second detent until the window glass stalls at the bottom of its travel for at least 2 seconds.

3. Cycle the window glass up and down once more to set the window soft stop for the DOWN position.

Test for correct window operation by carrying out the one-touch up and one-touch down features.

I had that on mine as well, except was an even larger gap (around 3/4"); I took it into the dealership and they fixed it under warranty, no problem. Honestly, I don't know what they did but it works fine now.

Good luck.

Yep! Exact same issue. I dropped it off at the dealership last night and they called me today. They said they have to take it to a body shop to have the convertible top adjusted. I told them I'll come get the car and will drop it back off next week if I want them to do that. I wanted to do some research to see if anyone else had this problem and how it was fixed. Not sure if I want a private body shop messing with my 1 year old convertible top. I may take it to a larger dealership that has the ability to fix on site.

Yeah, that doesn't sound right. The dealership that I took mine to said it was a 5 minute fix and they did it right away. I've had other issues with my convertible top but the window issue didn't require them to do anything to the top that I'm aware of.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it didn't sound right to me either. Second opinion time.

Let’s get this escalated for you, drhags. Make an appointment with your new dealer, and get back to me. PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.

Definitely do so, SterlingStangMan. I'll get to it as soon as I come in on Monday.

Okay, got my car back this morning after about two hours. Basically they just lubed the weatherstripping. The top of the glass that slides in has excess silicone on it but, I figure I won't wipe it off until it has a chance to really soak into the weatherstripping. It does seem to close correctly now though and with a little more force. I got another 2,500 miles for it to stop working again before the warranty runs out LOL!
Anyone else have other results/fixes? Good to know for the post-warranty maintenance.
