Is the leather of different quality than the basic leather? On the Ford site it says it comes with "soft door-trim rollovers", what exactly is that? Also are the hard plastics on the top of the door panel changed soft touch. Searched the forums and it was kind of his and miss on finding answers.

The top on the dash is leather and stitched. The door panel inserts are leather. The door uppers are soft touch. The seats are indeed a different leather, though if it's "better" or not I am not certain.

If I could do it again, I would have spent the extra cash for the premier trim.

I have sat on both and the premier has soft touch door panels, the leather feels better quality and the stitching on the dashboard is real I believe.

The upper door panel (where you would rest your arm with the window open) is what really stuck out like a sore thumb. Knowing that the Premier changes that is good.

Do you have to get colored seats with this package or can you stay with the full black leather?

This is my post from another thread of the same topic, and I believe I even quoted you there :) Note the bolded section: Premier interior is available in red, black with yellow stitching, or black with light silver stitching.

I have the Redline Premier in my '16 GT convertible, I've got red:

- seat surfaces
- stitching on dash mat
- door inserts
- stitching on center console/armrest
- stitching on shifter boot (not sure if this is Redline or standard)

The seat stitching is neat, it's black on the red side, and red on the black side.

The seat material feels way softer vs. the few other S550s I've checked out, feels more like the premium leather option in German cars (I realize it's a leather/vinyl mix).

For the fairly low cost ($395 MSRP for the option), even if you're going with a black interior, it seems like a nice upgrade. If you're ordering, just get it, the price is insignificant relative to the cost of the car. :)

Well worth the extra $400 IMO. I ordered and waited because I could not find a car on the lot anywhere in a 500 mile radius that had the Premier Int & 3.55 gears in a color I wanted. I can understand dealers not ordering the 3.55's but why so few seem to tick off the Premier Int box is beyond me !

You can get black, red or black with yellow stitching - color options are on the build/price website.

Short answer: yes, you can stay all black.

I was very careful to emphasize that when I ordered (yikes! 19 months ago!) but was very nervous until the car actually came and I had exactly what I wanted. So unless Ford has changed something from 2015 to 2016, you can get the premier trim level with all the niceties with a completely black interior. [What was misleading was the online build tool: it always showed the saddle interior, regardless of what upholstery color you had chosen.]

I want to order a comp orange but was unsure how colored interior would look with the paint color.
Masked Racer X, i was going to ask more in that thread but did not want to hijack it.

No sweat, yeah, I understand if you didn't start that thread. Ask away, I'll go out in the garage and feel my car ...

To be honest, I'm still not 100% sure on some of the components, like you mentioned the upper door section, mine is nice, but it may be the same as a non-Premier[?]

The premier doors are definitely "soft touch" where in premiums and base it's a hard plastic like the center console.

Neat, you mean even the upper section (above the red door insert in my photos)?

I thought that was the case, but I only looked a few locally, and didn't give them too much time before I tracked one down with Premier (and it's my first Mustang so I have no other reference).

Correct! It's a nice little touch. The $395 was worth it even without that, it's an added bonus.

^^^ What he said. I have Redline, too. I sat side by side in a Saddle interior and mine they day I got my car. Very different. Best $343 (X-Plan price) I ever spent.
