Yes, I've started a new, clean thread because I know this is an important topic for many Mustang owners including myself. You guys wanting satellite radio all need a thread without the noise. I want to give a thanks to Valley Boy who got me started on this path from his posts in other threads.

Here's the details on a factory-like satellite radio install:

Yes, it includes a new radio that is ordered to your VIN. The radio is the same as the original equipment, only flashed with a built in module. Note the "radio" is not the screen, buttons, or bezel, it's a box of electronics behind the screen. The package includes an antenna with instructions. The company that makes this product (or at least programs it) is United Radio. The product name is ARC. They have a website (arc12volt.com), but they do not sell to the public...so don't expect the site to be very informative. These guys sell to dealers only

Let's NOT turn this into a sound quality argument! Hopefully a moderator will sticky this and remove any arguments.

Installer: Audio Depot in Arlington, TX 817-466-2441. If you contact them, ask for John (the owner) and PLEASE tell him Eddie sent you! He went out of his way to get this going (his first install of this product) and I want to show him the appreciation I have with referrals! His installer (Paul) did a nice job and hid the antenna under the rear deck (inside the car). BTW, Paul may be the one who found out about the product. Reception is very good (but not quite as good as outside of the car). If reception becomes a problem we may move the antenna to the trunk lid or under the dash.

Since we don't have a 'SAT' button, the satellite radio is activated by double-tapping the left arrow key below the screen. It brings up the satellite menu. Here's some pictures:

Price: I negotiated for the Sat. radio when purchasing the car very recently. This was part of the unfortunate run-around I had because the salesman, sales manager, and dealer's part dept. were miscommunicating or trying to do a bait/switch on me. However Audio Depot took care of me and will do the equivalent install for around $850 to $900 (parts and install). Yes, it's expensive, but you're getting the equivalent of factory parts. I'm sure they will send you the parts if you want to self-install for less. Again this is ordered for your VIN. My rear parking sensors, camera, radio presets, and steering wheel controls all work like factory. This is not a USB install--it's factory like.

Other hardware: I'm not 100% sure of all the parts. The install shop didn't want me hanging around in their install bay while the install was being performed. I looked some, but didn't want to bother them too much. The screen is not replaced, nor are any of the parts you see from inside the car. The new replacement radio is behind the screen and is only a box of hardware.

Nice job posting information. This the way it should have come from factory.I am a big fan of Sat radio. Thanks again.. Looks so much cleaner than the plug and play set up I did.. and no wires...what a win!
