Hi All,

So there has been a few mentions of the North Coast 500 up in Scotland as a “thing to do” once you have your new Mustang. For those that don’t know about it, it’s a 500 mile stretch of road following the North Coast of Scotland; beautiful roads, stunning scenery, just begging for a few Mustangs to tear it up! Have a look at the website; http://www.northcoast500.com/

This got me thinking – there is an opportunity here to create a bit of an event, something special to mark the official introduction of the Mustang to the UK market…

At this point, I think it would be wise to get a rough idea of numbers, and some potential dates. Knowing that not all of us will be able to commit to the same dates, I propose we aim for a 1 or 2 week period in either Spring or Summer 2016 where we can all aim to get up there at some point in that period. Obviously open to all cars/enthusiasts but with the intention of getting as many S550’s up there as we can. Europe – if it’s not too far for you then we would love to see you here too!

The idea being that whilst most people can cruise around doing their own thing, there will be plenty of occasions where you spot/meet other Mustang owners doing the same! We can of course arrange some proper meets/events at particular locations on particular days to make things more exiting.

So with that said, if you are interested, then please answer the poll above & let’s get the ball rolling…if the numbers are good, we could create something pretty awesome! :ford:

I've voted 'don't mind, I'll be there'. Little caveat with that one, middle daughter gets married next July 9th, obviously I've got a job to do on that day, but any other time is cool.

I even had to give up Le Mans in June (could've got leave swapped for July), although I'm still hopeful, what with the new Ford GT40 taking part and all.

Well done Kristian for getting the ball rolling, as I've said, even if no Pony when it's set, I'll give the Nismo a damned good thrashing

If you need any ideas for accommodation etc, please feel free to PM me, happy to help. The Applecross Highland Games are the last weekend of July normally, they have a great campsite with little chalet/huts on it, and of course there's the world famous Applecross Inn.

Ive ran a car meet to the games before, if you get the weather.........

Nice to see quite a few voters already...for once the long wait for our cars works in our favour! Setting a date so far in the future will allow better numbers! Will make a note to avoid July 9th Lone Survivor ;)

I just think that such an iconic car deserves an iconic event to give it a nice warm welcome, and where better than such an iconic location - the NC500 has been dubbed "the UK's version of route 66", feels like it was meant to be!

If this gets a big as I hope, I have no doubt that we can get people like Mr Callum involved, and no doubt Ford themselves. Maybe getting a little ahead of myself but let's see what happens...

Will no doubt be in touch with you folks up there for ideas. My initial thoughts are 2-3 meets organised that fall in to different weeks so people who can't make one can make the others, with perhaps a "main event" where we make it super special. Got plenty of time to make the plans anyway!

I think we will struggle to find proper diners that far up! There will be some on the way for sure - plenty in Edinburgh/Glasgow if you fancy a little detour - I'm sure that's what I will be doing!

I'm sure if we ask nicely, one of the many great eateries up there can cater for our American cravings! Maybe we can get a BBQ on the go :) a nice slow smoked brisket, & a mountain of pulled pork mmmmmmmmmm :usa:

It looks great. Brilliant website too. Found another waste of time to add to Forum time; doing the 500 on Google Earth. The roads are in better nick than down here. :)

Looks cool ..... if i still have my car by mid-2016 I'd be up for it. Much depends on any news of the GT350 coming to Blighty.

Edit: as i'm not sure about even having a car i won't vote at the moment but i'll just fit in with whatever. From what I've seen on the website it looks a fantastic route so the more daylight hours the better I would have thought. That said, during the summer it doesn't get dark til around 11pm or after so plenty of driving time! :)

Great job setting this up. Can't wait I guess we've got loads of time to sort the details but I'm in regardless. If we get the numbers I agree that Ford might be interested in getting some Marketing from it, which in turn gives us a chance make some suggestions. Like a closed small runway where we can all get some donuts on the go and ford can film it. Who knows.

Ok, doing my bit now to persuade people...

C'mon guys, where are the votes??? I know there is at least 1200 people out there patiently waiting just like me, desperate to get behind the wheel...I'm heading up there regardless, but the more people we get up there the better it will be. Lets follow in the footsteps of the Americans & do things bigger & better!

What's better than taking your pride & joy to a place like that? I'll tell you - 50, 100 or 200+ people doing the same :amen:

Oh, and in case you are trying to imagine what it will be like, Mr Moray Calum has already done it...

[ame]

So come on...who's with me?

It's a good point. Despite 1200 Stangs coming to the UK it's the same guys (don't think we have any gals) who tend to post. I guess the rest genuinely are patient and have lives... ;)

Hmm of course lol, the same 20 or so names come up, just got a bit miffed seeing that 250+ people have read the post & only 15 votes...

An idea worth running with though do we think? Haven't been to enough car meets to know if it's worth the effort to organise something.

Probably me just expecting too much too soon, a lot can happen in a year I guess...:)

I think it's a great idea and while a LOT of cars turning out would be amazing, even if there were only a dozen it would still be impressive.

Kristian87, I wondered if it might be worth mailing some one like CJ Pony Parts to see if they might get involved so I drafted an email but thought out of courtesy, I'd check with you and others to see if there was an objection. It might be possible to persuade them to offer some special discount for attendees and perhaps to co-ordinate some purchases as well with a view to reducing shipping costs which I know others have talked about. Either that or perhaps a UK based provider. Sounds like Bill Shepherd is cornering the maintenance market in the South but I am not sure about further up north.

No offence taken if thought to be a poor idea. Won't be my first. Won't be my last. If you think its a runner, and you want me to send the email, then let me know.
