So the other day I noticed that the seat belt is cutting into the seat from the way the seat belt strap holds it. Is anyone else having this issue? Have you figured out any fixes?

I was thinking there must be a way to prevent this with a curved plastic piece or something that stays at the top of the seat belt strap to guide the seat belt and keep it from cutting into the leather.

Here's some pics of what I'm talking about:

Solution is amazing simple, don't use the web guide, from page 30 of the owner's manual

A web guide is included on the outboard
side of the front seats. Depending on
occupant size and seating position, you
may need to route the belt through the
guide for a proper fit. If the safety belt does
not route across the middle of the
shoulder, route the belt through the web
guide.

I had the same problem, I took it to the dealership, they replaced that ripped leather piece under warranty. I am also looking into alternatives besides not using the seat belt place holder ( sorry I don't know the proper name) .

Please share when you find an alternative! I would love to be able to use the holder again

Mine is falling apart, too. Another bang-up design job.

I suppose they were designed to fall apart in 2,000 miles.

I think it has to do with seat position - whether your seat is closer to the wheel or pushed closer to the rear seat. Depending on the seat's position you would/n't need to use the strap holder.

I think that could be a big factor , I am 5'4 so my seat is close to the steering wheel and it's almost at a 90 degree angle ( almost ) I am always in race ready mode lol . Back to my point , I let my younger brother( he is 5'8 ) drive the car so I can see how the seat belt would change position and to my surprise it would not rub like it does with me .

After seeing this thread I took my belt out of the strap. Slightly less comfortable but until there's a better solution it is what it is.

Took my belt out of the strap guide as well.
It's unfortunate because with the strap the seat belt is comfortable and easier to grab, but with the strap your cutting into your leather.

Still no solutions on how to protect the leather from being cut for those that want to use the strap?

mine is a solid plastic piece, not a flexible strap. maybe that's only on the convertible, but I don't see why it would need to be different.

Seat belt position on this car sucks; wish they would have made it adjustable. Seat belt drives me nuts without the strap.
