Thats a recall if I ever seen one. Safty issue. What if your passenger got hurt because thats the farthest the bag could inflate? Lawsuit!!!!

That's the point I was trying to make... I gave them a 2nd shot by visiting a 2nd dealer and got the same excuses.

I'm not even going to repair my car, I'm going to speak to a lawyer to see what they can do for me.

As I mentioned on another thread: the glove box passenger air bag is a small rectangular cushion. Not a large balloon. There is a youtube video where a Ford rep shows what the air bag looks like (would fit neatly on a small chair seat). The idea is to cushion the passenger's legs, not a full torso or head. It looks like it worked correctly.

Actually, That is NOT deployed. That is 1/4 of the way deployed.

Check out the correct way for its deployment.

Yes stop the video at exactly :01. The top big bag part comes from the top of the dash. The glovebox blows out a few inches to protect the passengers knees- the below image is all the glovebox bag does.

It obviously was not hard enough to deploy the bag out of the top dash so it probably wasn't supposed to deploy. I doubt this is a warranty repair. The force of the crash may have separated the clips holding the airbag in.

If there is already an insurance repair it will be fixed too; won't cost you any more than the deductible

I thought the clips were messed up due to the impact as well, But it wasn't. It's partially inflated, The impact WAS hard enough to set off the airbags, But only the knee airbags.

Passenger door doesn't open at all, As the front end was pushed in, Driver door clips when opening. The hood doesn't close, Because from the front, It was pushed back by at least 3 inches.

Maybe the car has sensors that only set off certain airbags based on the force? That would really be the only explanation why only both knee airbags only popped while the steering wheel and dash didnt. The odds of both the dash and wheel airbag not deploying too are astronomical in terms of failure rate.

I'm a lawyer, but in Florida, but you really don't likely have any legal claim. You have to have some measurable injury to have a claim for recovery; and it'd be the passenger's claim anyway as he would be the only one with injury if anybody. Your (potential) purely economic loss of putting in a new assembly is not measurable as it is covered along with the other damage in your insurance deductible which already kicked in. What would've/could've happened though to him really doesn't matter in the law generally.

You can grill the dealership but they aren't going to be able to answer why it didn't pop fully; and if it's been in a wreck they won't touch it (for obvious reasons- insurance adjuster needs to see it in its current condition, etc). It'll get replaced with the rest of the front end anyway in the insurance claim either way, so I must be missing the big deal. Things don't always work 100% in any item out there when you have mass production.

I'm not looking to get anything from them.

I had an incident with my insurance, Honestly I told them all I wanted was the airbag replaced for one in working condition, Not the driver side one, Just the passenger one that FAILED to correctly deploy.

The dealership lied to me the day I bought it, So I ended up not being covered and as I said before, That's not a problem. Either way, I'm reporting the incident to the correct agencies.

For "not wanting anything" you sure went out of your way to film yourself berating some poor employee who can't do anything more than Ford policies say. Why in gods green earth you think they would touch/mess with a car that's been in an accident defies logic. That would be a little thing called insurance fraud if the adjuster didn't see the exact damage before repairs began or parts were touched. And talking down to the employee like he was an idiot "do you know what an airbag does?" type stuff surely got you nowhere even faster; not a cool attitude btw.

Your insurance isn't not going to replace the passenger bag, it popped. It doesn't cost you any more than the deductible for one vs 2 airbags, so your story makes no sense if you already reported it to your insurance to get repaired.

You clearly wanted some payout/freebie out of this (hence the lawyer comment too) and it failed.

I wouldn't find it safe to be driving around with air bags deployed. But granted that sucks.

So basically you had no insurance at the time then because this is an insurance issue and you want Ford to substitute for your insurance, or lack thereof. While it should have fully deployed, there is no dispute to that, the one purely knee airbag which would not prevent death or serious injury seems to be the least of your issues.

Maybe ask Ford/research more how the airbags are supposed to go off before assuming. I am sure they all don't go off every collision but based on where you get hit. Again, all failing (all 6 others with 1 going off) is an astronomical system failure. There must be a reason only the ones that went off did go off. I hit a 300-400 pound deer going 75mph on the highway head on in a previous vehicle and none of the airbags deployed crunching the front end about how yours is with more damage to the hood. It's not some manufacturer conspiracy, learn how airbags actually work and go off- they dont go off in every impact (speed force etc are all at play).

Last time I checked you were the only one who mentioned seeing a lawyer so the only one talking lawsuit was you in black and white. Your intent was clear by the statement.
