I would do Livernois Tune and Intanke but because i have the Performance Pack with 3.55 gears stock.... If i had the base EcoBoost id do Tune and Gears! If your concerned about warranty wait till FORD comes out with there tune by the end of the summer.

How much would new gears cost?? I'm new to "cars". Always had trucks. This mustang is faster then any truck I've ever owned in my life.

Maybe that's your situation, but the OP said he has $1,000 to do his first set of mods. He's not asking for financial advice

GTFO with your common sense!!

I am actually saving for a house and have $28,000 in savings right now. So I figured $1000 won't hurt anyone ?

Tune first or gears first? slowest member of WCPR
The gears themselves are cheap but it's not something you will be able to do yourself in the driveway so having it installed might cut into the budget. I'd go tune first

You can if you know what your doing!! Hell ive even installed a transmission in my driveway on a 79 chevy pick up!! If not the gears are cheap enough that you can take it to a shop and get them installed.. but if it only came down to one mod because of budget id go tune first as well...

Of course it's possible but it requires a pretty specialized set of tools and its not an install you want to mess up. Here's a good write up:

There are a lot of tuner options but if you're trying to ball on a budget I'd go with an SCT tuner since they generally all cost about $400

If the livernois tuner is better but worth the price difference, I'll go with that
