Reformat the flash drives and make sure you are saving the correct file type. This is probably going to get moved to the Friday night flash drive malfunction sub forum btw.

You guys keep telling me to reformat the flash drives.....I know they need to be reformatted, but if I put them into my computer to do it, my computer locks up and I have to power down my computer....continuing to tell me to reformat the drives doesn't change that fact....I need to know how to be able to connect them without my computer crashing....

then you got problems with the usb drivers or something causing an error and locking up.

usb drives just don't lock up a pc or any usb device. if you're getting locks, it's software related. not sure how comp savy you are but check your device manager and see if there are any yellow ?'s on the usb ports. also try another port.

or you needa to spyware/malware/virus check your comp. something else is causing it.

When your computer locks up ctrl alt delete and eject the flash drive from the task manager.

none of my USB controllers have any ? next to them, when I plugged the USB in before I installed the software, they would light up, now neither of them does, computer just locks. I just find it odd that they both worked fine before I installed the sync software, and now neither of them do. I actually formatted both of them before installing the software because they both had stuff on them and sync said they had to be clean...now the only thing on both of them is the stupid sync software that was downloaded, and I can't connect either one of them

I can't ctrl alt del, nothing works....only thing I can do is shut down using the power button, can't reboot, can't go to task manager, nothing

AR306 told you how to do it. Reformat the usb drives from your computer's BIOS. It won't lock up on you with that method.

Where are you guys getting "format from the BIOS/UEFI"? That doesn't even begin to make sense. You cannot format the drive in the BIOS/UEFI.

If it locks up his Windows installation the best he can do is boot from a CD/DVD/USB key and reformat from there. Or use another PC.

I'm assuming you're using a Winders© machine? My condolences ...

If you don't have another machine handy, do a "Safe Boot" or boot into recovery mode to a command line prompt. One of those will likely (almost assuredly the latter) not upchuck when you insert the drive and you can wipe the partition and/or reformat.

Careful you know what drive you're doing what to from a prompt :)

[edit]

I see you solved it through a different mechanism, cool, from what I'm reading this update is worth it.

I have it loaded up on my flash drive and still need to update my car. It's a regular cheapo $10 flash drive. Just make sure you follow the instructions - it tells you specifically the flash drive must be formatted as FAT32. You can do this within Windows, make sure you backup your contents on your flash drive, and right click on the flash drive, and you can do a format. You can't format drives in BIOS/UEFI like someone said above.
