  1. MBRP Street Cat-Back

On the car for about 5,000 miles. Removed before I traded it for a 4WD SUV when snow-mageddon hit Idaho last year. Just taking up space in my garage. I have all the original packaging and am willing to ship, at your expense. No, I don't know what that will cost, off-hand. But you are getting...
  2. Two Years and Counting

So I've had my 15 GT two years today. That's a milestone. It's been split into two phases. In the CA phase, I drove 8,400 miles the first three months I owned the car, and really appreciated the AT in traffic and the bright white paint in the desert sunshine, even though it was winter. The...
  3. Update the GPS Maps?

Got a letter from Ford yesterday, offering to sell me updated maps for my nav system, for the Ford-friendly fee of $149. Question is, is that worth it? After only one year?
  4. Coyote Sound

Listening to my new MBRP Street Catback, it occurs to me it sounds a good deal like a 51 Mercury with Smitty mufflers: the quintessential 50's street rod. The deep rumble at idle and low speed is right, and the snapping, popping sound as the revs rise remind me of American Graffiti. And then...
  5. INstalling MBRP Street Catback on Saturday

Wondering if I need to worry about any "lube" to keep the pipes from binding as they go back together. I have nightmares of not being able to reassemble the pipes, or get them straight. (All that is based on my only other exhaust experience, installing a Supersprint cat-back on my Opel Manta...
  6. S550s at The Park

Attended the Cars in the Park show in Meridian, ID yesterday. Great turnout of cars of all kinds, probably 400 or more. It took us four hours to walk the aisles.' Out of that crowd, I counted seven S550s including mine, which I did show. Interesting breakdowns: 7 Fastbacks, no Verts 5...
  7. Loose Tires

This came from an AMR ad today. A little fun at their expense. They are a good company, and this is an honest mistake. Still funny.
  8. 4 Times the Camaro Copied the Mustang

I don't agree very much with the Gen 3 comparison, but the other three examples (Gen 1, Gen 5, Gen 6) are right on. I have already commented about the Gen 6 Camaro looking like a Gen 5 with a Mustang fastback grafted on. Ugh...
  9. Hard to Believe . . . .

But I have had my car six months and today is the first day I have cleaned it. It's been through the car wash several times, but between living where there was no pavement, moving, and now still living where there's no pavement (though I have a garage with a concrete floor) there hasn't been...
  10. Close Call

Drove into town today, got out, and pressed the ridges on the door handle to lock the car. Nothing happened, So I pressed it again. And again. Nothing. So I pulled out the key fob and on about the fourth key press, the doors locked and I went into the store to do my business. When I...
  11. MPG Computer Not Accurate?

I have had several cars with MPG computers, and I have to say none has matched the results of my hand calculations, and all have been a little optimistic. Of course. But the computer in my Mustang is worse that the rest. It consistently shows 1.5 mpg more than it's really getting, sometimes...
  12. Well, it lasted 77 days!

Woke up Thursday morning to a dense fog. Driving in to work, as the sun began to come up I saw what looked like a dribble of water on the passenger side of the windshield, so I flicked the wipers to clear it. It didn't clear. Looking at it again, I realized it was a crack. A perfect "T"...
  13. 4,000 Miles and Counting

It's been a busy 32 days since I took delivery. Hard to believe I have nearly 4,000 miles on the clock, but a trip to Boise from CA and a 78-mile-a-day commute will do that for you. I am really settling in and feeling comfortable with the car. It has a LOT of power, and I am not used to...
  14. Just a Gripe

This car is hard to wash! I have never seen so many crevices, indentations and small spots for water and unwashed dirt to collect. I'm going to have to learn the tricks all over again. At least the Foundry wheel are easy!
  15. MPG v. RPM

I think I am noticing a phenomenon I saw on my previous car in the new GT. The rule of thumb is that lower speeds and lower RPM lead to better MPG. I think DOHC engines may take limited exception to that. In 105K miles, I ran enough gas through my 3.5 V6 to be completely sure it got better...
  16. Trunk Release Button

Talk about feeling dumb! I have felt all over the trunk lid and cannot find a button or sensitive spot that will open the trunk. I see the arrow in the Manual pointing about where the back up camera is, but I see no button! Any advice here?:headbonk:
  17. Locking the Car with the Door Button?

Probably a dumb question, but I don't know the answer. I figured out I can unlock the car by pressing the top of the door handle, so long as the key fob is nearby. That's great, and keeps me from digging the fob out of my pocket when my hands are full. Is the reverse true? Can I somehow...
  18. Has Anyone Cut Open the Suitcase?

I am really curious to know what's in that hunk of stainless steel. I'm guessing it's a well-baffled X-pipe, given the quiet rasp of the stock exhaust note. But since mine will be staying on the car for now, I am just wondering what I have.
  19. "Beauty" is Here!

I swore I wouldn't name a car, but my wife is calling it "Beauty." And it arrived this morning. I had just enough time to run to the dealer and pick it up so I could drive to an evening meeting. Haven't even gotten all the tags and stickers off of it yet! I did do a complete and careful...
  20. I Had a Bad Feeling . . .

that something would happen to my Lincoln before I sold it. We talked last night about needing to get it on the market within the next couple of weeks, to get it gone before the car comes in mid November (it says here!) So this morning, my wife left to run an errand, and then I heard her...
