today I finished dyno tuning my gen 4 coyote swapped s550.
There is some relevant information involved in the swap so Iām putting the information out there.
As the ford gen 3 long blocks dry up this should prove to be an economical option for engine replacements.
What you will need:
A drivers...
There really wasnāt more too it beyond what was already covered here. It will be mostly tuner reliant to get the vvt to function.
After I hit the dyno Iāll still make a thread with build and results.
So I ended up just fabbing up a bracket like this and used my long tubes. I wasnāt sure if there was a change to water or oil routing in the head and that made me nervous to drill and tap into it...
Plan on re using your fuel system and manifold. You will use the gen 4 DI injectors.
To get VVT to function you will need a tune.
As far as I know PBD is the only one that can tune the gen 4 cams for our platform. The engine harness had no issues going in. All sensors/phasers etc, are where they...
With the help of Palm Beach Dyno we got the cams working correctly and have full VVT.
Iāll be taking it to the dyno the 25th to see what sheās putting down and get her fine tuned.
So there we have it!
Gen 4 swapped S550 :like:
So the new injectors sit at a different depth in the head and have a revised spray nozzle. So I took a chance on them and are in fact compatible with the gen 3 ecu. However the gen 4 fuel rails have different hard lines. So I transferred my old ones. Along with the old DI pump.
I briefly entertained the idea of a gen 4. But seeing all the crap Iād have to relocate and the uncertainty of wiring the second TB I just re used my gen 3.
now can somebody sell me a cheap cobra jet
Iām certain the second TB is just to get back the airflow and HP that was lost on that...
Absolutely. Once I get the tune figured out Iāll do a full write up. Fun fact, car fired up on my existing tune for the otherwise stock gen 3 that came out. Provided everything continues smoothly on the tuning side, it may be a viable economic option for engine replacements. Especially...
decided to be a guinea pig.
I just dropped a gen 4 long block in my 18 gt.
There are other changes they made. Such as DI injectors/rails.
Big time on cams.
Exhaust header bolt pattern of course.
In the process of tuning it right now.
As per title, would like to trade towards a Borla cat back s type. Preferably active. My kit has about 5000 miles on it and in good used condition. Carbon fiber tips look sick š just too much on a catless long tube setup
Iām looking to grab an 18+ s550, needs to be the ten speed with PP1. My preference would be a base pp1 gt.
I donāt mind the color so much but would prefer ruby red.
Not looking for anything heavily modified.
Located in central east/Nevada but willing to travel for the right car.
Clean title...
Iām ready to move to a new project, I have been dabbling with s197 platform for some time and Iād like to take a swing on the s550 platform.
What I have is a 2012 that started life as a factory Roush stage 3.
since owning it it has been my tinker toy and the list is as follows:
-Built 5.2 block...
When people say it is normal to see some metal flakes in the first oil change itās a just a pinch that was missed after cleaning the block after milling, and itās in the oil filter.
That is an alarming amount of material in your oil. Something is wrong. Send a sample to black stone labs and find...
