I have just a fiberglass one (not carbon) and it is indeed much lighter than the stock hood. I too find that the hood pins give off a look that I'm not going for, so I haven't installed any. The car has hit 100, and still been good. Definitely does "flex" a shit ton though, kind of nerve...
