Not quite apples to apples, but 2015 GT with stock tires of 235/50R18 low price performance tire (from previous owner) and just switched to a 285/30R20 PS A/S 3+ (its a year-round daily driver) and the difference between the 50 series and the 30 series was amazing. Of course, a lot of what I'm...
With the 20x10 +40 285/30 I've got about 5 mm clearance, or so. +35 will bring the tire out 5 mm, so I would think the 285/35 would be fine. the extra sidewall height will bring the sidewall bulge a tiny bit higher on the strut tube which will give a tiny bit of additional clearance.
I just installed 20 x 10 +40ET square with 285/30R20 tires. No rubbing, so far.
Definitely do yourself a favor and save up for tires. Look at Tire Rack reviews (go to "Research & Advice"). Some solid performers at less than Michelin prices.
Yeah, I know, dredging up old threads...
But, I recently received the TR005 Toe Links and FRPP bearings. Saw this thread and thought, "Dang, better check fit!" Glad I did. Turns out the bearings I received are about 0.050" wider than the opening in the TR005 bracket.
Easiest way to open up...
I've got a '15 and do it. Not sure if the '19 is different. Be aware that when you change modes, it changes immediately. If I'm in Auto (not paddling) and change modes the engine rpm may change when toggling through, since the target rpm varies with speed, gear and mode.
Installed the kit today. Still need to go in for an alignment, but its not too bad. No pulling or darting. A little bit more drift than before hand, but I'm sure that's my fault. The steering is much more direct, for sure. More like it should be!
I went with the bearing version of the Steeda parts sitting out in the garage waiting for me to get to the install. This weekend, I hope. Will be interesting to compare notes.
The only issue I can see would be the inside thread depth in the rod end. I doubt the shock thread would bottom out, but not sure. The BMR washers are quite a bit thicker than a standard washer. You'd loose a very small amount of max extension travel, but I doubt you'd ever notice.
When I buy wheels in late summer or early fall, they will be HRE FF15 in Tarmac, matte black, unless they put out a new wheel I like before then... Waiting for the new flow form design release...
The other day when I was getting ready to leave work, my boss said, "Hey, I want to HEAR that Borla when you leave!"
Kinda warms the heart.... Gave him a nice couple throttle blips as I passed his window :)
One thing I've done since I didn't have the crows-foot socket or O2 socket, was to grind flats (15/16" if I recall) on the top of a 1/2" drive deep socket for the nut and then pass a 1/4" extension through the 1/2" square drive hole, stick whatever socket on the extension and then tighten or...
First thing I did when I got my '15 GT home.
What does it do? Nothing, but clutter up the engine bay...
Any benefits? Yeah, more room in the engine bay. Less clutter. Less stupid.
Dumb question? No, not at all. It's a dumb answer to a question no one should ever have asked. Right up there...
There were about 2 stations I'd listen to... When reception was good enough and wasn't breaking up. On rare occasions I'll turn on the radio or listen to VOXPlayer through BT... Most times, I prefer to listen to Borla S-Type!
