Hereās a datapoint from my personal experience:
I have a 2020 BMW M2 Competition and my wife has a 2021 Mustang GT PP1 Vert with Magneride. I love the M2, but itās pretty clear that the Mustang has the more capable suspension (even though itās much bigger).
I agree that - between major redesigns and refreshes - Ford does make modest changes to its models between model years (and even within a given model year).
My point was that implementing cylinder deactivation would be a significant, expensive change to the engine that would probably impact...
Come on, guys... Does anyone really believe that Ford spent tens (or maybe hundreds) of millions of dollars to develop two updated coyote motors for the aging S550 platform (presumably one or two years before the platform is retired for an complete redesign), namely the engines for the 2021 GT...
The oil cap in the '21 GT (at least mine) says 5W-30, clear as day.
I personally think Ford should tell its '18-'20 GT owners if it has found that 5W-30 is all-things-considered better for their engines than 5W-20.
Last week, my wife took delivery of her 2021 Mustang GT Convertible (PP1, 401A, 10SP, MagneRide, Twister Orange). I had spent the better part of 2018 obsessing about Mustang GTs (before taking a break after buying a different car), so I felt pretty confident I knew everything I needed to know...
Thanks, Ice445. At least I know I wasnāt singled out (I.e., with other 2021 GT PP1 purchasers getting the Michelins).
Since I wanted Magneride (and I donāt plan to do major suspension mods), PP1 is still worth it for me. Just need to wait for the Pirellis to wear out before I install Michelins.
Hi all,
Last night, my wife and I just purchased a 2021 GT Premium Convertible 401A, PP1, Magneride (of course in Twister Orange). The only thing that detracted from the otherwise fantastic experience was that we realized that it came stock with Pirelli P-Zero tires.. I tried to make a stink...
As others have pointed out, Ford has a press conference scheduled at the NY Auto Show on April 17, labelled "National Mustang Day & Snacks".
Any predictions for what will be released/disclosed? Here are some ideas:
1. Glimpses of the Mach-E electric cross-over (seems likely) and/or Mustang...
Ford canāt just add the Ford Performance tune developed for the ā18-ā19 Ecoboost (which is already stronger than the stock Focus RS engine) and charge $5k more for it than the standard Ecoboost.
The value would come from adding GT PP brakes, maybe GT PP2 suspension/magneride/wheels, etc., but...
Yup, youāre absolutely right.
I think Iām conditioned to believe bad news about the strategic decisions of Fordās executives - even if theyāre stupid and come on April Fools day.
Apologies if this was already posted:
Ford Mustang Hybrid Cancelled For All-Electric Instead
https://carbuzz.com/news/ford-mustang-hybrid-cancelled-for-all-electric-instead
Certainly disappointing, if true.
Iād speculate that the AWD hybrid system suggested by Fordās patent would not be implemented in the S550 platform. (Too many design/engineering changes required.). It would be much easier to integrate a mild hybrid system into the S550.
If you havenāt heard about āmild hybridā systems, Iād...
Totally agree with the main point of your post.
Regarding the statement above, thereās no doubt a 2.3T EcoBoost hybrid would be slower than a GT. I think the jury is out on whether it would be heavier. Itās very possible, if not likely, that it would be a 48v mild system. If I understand...
If it is a disguised EcoBoost hybrid, Iām happy to see the large Brembo front brakes.
(I donāt know how regenerative brakes fit into the picture. Maybe theyād be in the rear only or maybe they could be incorporated into the fronts without otherwise being visible. ...Or maybe this is just a...
I dunno. If I were more rational, I could easily talk myself into getting a '19 to avoid any production/engineering issues that often pop up in first model years. Hopefully, by now, the biggest issues have been worked out in the '19's.
...But I'm not rational (or patient) and I want the...
Got it and totally agree. Absent a hybrid version of the 2.3T, thatās the only way this makes sense. Perhaps theyād label it as a āspecial editionā Ecoboost like the Bullitt.
By the way, itās a bit of a rabbit hole looking into Fordās development of mild hybrid technology and the the benefits...
