Thanks everyone for their thoughts, I know a couple folks had referenced the 2018 owners manual which I've not had the opportunity to review. Nonetheless, despite the fact that I would love the blind spot warning function, it seems this other function is bundled in, and that's just not for me.

I could be wrong, but me thinks the 2018 iteration of same is a bit more intrusive than in your model year cars. Perhaps not. Yet, perhaps same, and if so a real world concern beyond the previous model years in it's potential to create problems. Problems we would all agree to, if it's shitty...
