I replaced my 22 air box lid with a used 18-21 lid and did a drop in. The car fired up perfect the very 1st time and have had no problems in 5k miles now. I measured the 22 MAF opening to be a few mm smaller overall, but it must be within the PCM's margin of error, because the part vendors are...
JLT has the no tune required CAI listed for 18 - 22 Mustang GTs. So, if you installed this CAI on a 22 the MAF calibration would be off, if the 22 has different MAF parameters in the tune. As time goes on, for the 2022 GT, it appears that there has been no change to the MAF calibration. The...
There was a slight tapper where the tube meets the open box section. My gamble on just swapping the lid with no changes was to see if the car still ran perfectly with the old lid. It has so far. started up with no idle changes. Afr and mpg unchanged. My only question in this, is if the PCM...
The extra filter and the frame holding it, while right against the actual air filter could cause some real turbulence. I have convinced myself that this turbulence is why the grid is needed. IDK for sure.
All around the several inches of area with the MAF slot. Once past that, going toward the filter area it would start to taper down smaller. 2022= 2.900 around and 2020 with sleeve in= 2.750. A .150 or 3.8mm difference overall diameter.
I did the swap from the stock restricted 2022 air lid to a used 2020 lid. I measured the ID of both with micrometers in the MAF cross section of the lids. FYI, the 2020 is exactly 3mm larger than the 2022. My drivability and mpg are unaffected by the swap. I guess 3mm overall is within the...
FYI, I just got a set of the Wheel Replica Mach1 style wheels and center caps with these dimensions fit mine:
Outside Cap Diameter: 60MM (2.33 inch)
Inside Clip Diameter: 56MM (2.20 inch)
Found some with running pony on eBay.
I still have my stock axle back and its not real loud, but you can hear it. Its just how I like it and I hate loud exhaust. As far as restriction, I don't know because I've always kept my stock axle back on.
I dont have a pic, but mine is cut completely out of the way in front of the filter. Just bare radiator there, then I cut left and right some until it fit.I have to remove the support cover and take out the 2 radiator support screws to move the rad back an inch to fit the filter in place.
With the 3.55 gears, you must be in the bottom of 4th gear as you pass the traps. With a smaller tire, you may be able to use most of 4th gear before you pass the traps. Im in the same situation.
