I plan to buy a new 2017 Lightening blue Mustang auto then tricking it out.
I was thinking of saving a few bucks up front and getting the V6.
Is the drive train (trans , rear , susp.) all the same for the V6 like the V8 ?
How hard would it be to make the conversion ?
I don't think so on build quality.
That Camaro had a lot of noise (squeaks and rattles) from the front dash area.
Did not hear that with the Mustang.
The Camaro has poor visibility.
The rear windshield visibility is non-existent.
Just for the heck of it , I test drove a 2016 2SS Camaro today and compared it to a 2016 Mustang GT premium I test drove recently.
Not impressed with the 2SS at all.
I will say that is puts you in the seat a bit more when accelerating but other than that I was unimpressed.
Chevrolet is again...
Have you ever ran your car ?
You are making great power.
You pretty much have what I plan on doing.
The only difference is an VMP gen 2 head unit or whipple.
Are there any performance shops in the central Florida Clearwater area that specialize in blower installs ?
Anyone who installs suspension parts or install exhaust headers and exhaust systems ?
It seems dealerships will only install Roush chargers.
I did not know the 3.55 option came with a different housing than the 3.15.
Good to know.
I actually met Ken a couple months ago at Bradenton during the NMRA.
I would go to him anyway just for the fact he was a really cool guy.
Sounds like you have a bad ass car.
What are you running ?
Which 1/4 mile track you going too go to ?
Bradenton or Orlando ?
Bradenton is awesome...Been there a bunch of times.
Thats a pretty impressive 60 foot time you did.
What gear and converter you running ?
My last stang was a 2013 with a stock 3.15 gear stock converter and Roush...
Your car stats are impressive.
Judging by your 1/8th your car should be a mid 10 sec. car.
Did you do that 1/8th on 93 ?
What was your 60 foot and tire size ?
I just saw the article on SVT about Sarasota Ford offering procharger stage 2 set ups new from the dealer.
Is that like what you...
There is a 2017 Lightning blue standard GT auto on a local dealer lot I plan on buying.
One of the options it has is 3.55 gears.
Should I steer clear and find one with 3.15's or order one with 3.15's if I plan on going with a whipple or VMP set up ?
I heard 3.55's may hurt me.
Is that true ...
Driver ability only really matters with a manual. The only real variation with different drivers is their weight.
With an auto and letting the car shift on its own does not take much skill unless your getting in the low 9 to 8 sec. range.
As for numbers I can tell you I did 10.83 at 129.6 mph in...
I am either thinking about getting VMP's gen. 2 set up or a whipple set up for a 2016 auto with 3.55 in the rear.
What is the best 1/4 mile ET I can expect a whipple to do with a safe 100% 93 tune for the auto set up with the 3.55's vs the same set up fpr a VMP ?
What it come down to for me is...
I just moved to Florida 4 months ago from NJ and I am so glad I did it.
Besides the big savings on property taxes and no state income tax , year round drag racing is a REALLY nice added bonus.
I just spent about 1hr 30min reading all the pages in this thread.
Very interesting and educational.
All I can say is that I am glad that I live in Clearwater FL. just an hour from Bradenton for the NMRA event in March...I will make sure to bring my video recorder.
Makes it easier to watch...
