  1. Tech Pack a Better Starting Point Than The Track Pack... Yeah I Said It

My personal situation: I wanted a car that I could do some commuting in, but also an occasional track day (3-4/yr). Last car was the V8 BMW M3. It was the perfect combination. I bought the Tech Pack. I bought the Tech Pack. Several reasons. 1) the Track Pack was incredibly hard to find...
  2. Track Day Drivers - What are you doing about the lack of Tow Hooks on the car?

This is really a great job. Well done. Did you do it yourself or work with a local fabric/cover shop? My local tracks (PBIR in Palm Beach, Sebring) doesn't have much sand, so this is great. Also, excellent color choice. Mine is same combination! Love it.
  3. TECH PACK MY 1ST HPDE NO LIMP MODE

Just my opinion, but so long as an aftermarket trans cooler doesn't impede the "fail safe" limp mode, it shouldn't affect warranty. I mean, so long as limp mode continues to protect the trans should the temp rise, not a problem. The cooler should just help to keep the temp down.
  4. 3 350's at PBIR in limp mode?

I just have a really hard time accepting that it's just "acceptable" for ANY GT350 to not be able to track at a mild-moderate pace for a 20min session. Regardless of what other variants exist. A base corvette can do it. Chevy doesn't make you buy the Z51 or the Z06. A Camaro ss can do it...
  5. 3 350's at PBIR in limp mode?

Well, I do have skin in the game. I just dropped off my tech pack car at the Ford dealership. Explained the situation in great depth. They were very welcoming and are going to keep the car and take a look, run codes, etc. I'm waiting on a business trip so they may have it the better part of the...
  6. 3 350's at PBIR in limp mode?

Since I just can't imagine ford not resolving this, I am open to all solutions they might propose. Could be something as simple as heat shields, adding a cooler. Could be more complicated like switching out the transmission for one with the integrated cooler like in the track pack. They can...
  7. 3 350's at PBIR in limp mode?

I think there is too much arguing over the different GT350 variants. Obviously, the R and Track pack should be expected to perform better. But the real comparison is to all the other vehicle options out there. Performance cars in the $60-$70 range (what most of us ended up paying:( ). This...
  8. On-Track Limp Mode Poll

    Taking it in today.
  9. On-Track Limp Mode Poll

Looking forward to our next track event at PBIR. It's still worth it even if only 10min sessions. I'm confident Ford will fix this. They have too much on the line for this car to get a bad rap. Camaro 1LE is out soon, and ZL1 and Z28 shortly thereafter. The GT350 is truly an amazing and...
  10. On-Track Limp Mode Poll

Most beautiful gray with black stripes! Tech pack PBIR About 60 degrees, evening event Novice group, but I have done a few track days in my old M3. Session 1: instructor riding shotgun teaching line. Another student following in GT with Perf pack. I had to slow on the straights so the GT could...
  11. On-Track Limp Mode Poll

But that is not the point......Of course everyone would expect the Track package or R to be better on the track. But that doesn't mean the Tech package should be "untrackable". If we wanted a dedicated track car, I think all would go for one of those models. But Tech pack owners likely want a...
  12. 3 350's at PBIR in limp mode?

Fairly simple. 1) I only want to track the car a few times a year. 2) No "track pack" cars available with any decent color combo. 3) Like the better electronics on the Tech. I live in FL and bought the car in LA. Without having to go all the way to TX or as far up as the DC area, there...
  13. Limp Mode on the Track

I absolutely love the way the exhaust sounds when it's all opened up. But, I have to admit, that normal mode is very welcomed. I also use it around the neighborhood and near the office.
  14. Video: Shelby GT350 Ordering Info - Ford addressing GT350 use & heat issues

After only 10 minutes at a moderate pace on the track, I can't go over 5000 RPMs. Limp mode. I can't imagine ford built this car to be outperformed by a standard GT after only 10 minutes on the track. I said it before on the other thread, Ford should be embarrassed by this. No joke. I'm in...
  15. Limp Mode on the Track

I can only speak to my experience. Is it possible that those with markups are used? I know a guy who bought a GT3 new at list price. With in a year he sold it back to the dealer for $15,000 over list. The dealer was able to sell the used car for a higher amount. Again, I can only speak to my...
  16. Limp Mode on the Track

I agree with you there. But a $60k+ sports car centered on performance (track rather than drag) should be able to hold up to a little more spirited driving. No GT350 should be outpaced by a standard GT. That's exactly what we saw last night 3 GT350s limping off track after 10 minutes while...
  17. Limp Mode on the Track

Looked at the new Porsche GT4. I could get it at list, but dealer allocates to best customers first. Same for BMW M2, no mark up, but a waiting list. Both dealers told me their manufacturers don't let them mark up. I don't know? Interesting though the Porsche guy said that one of their...
  18. Limp Mode on the Track

It's far worse than "thought they wouldn't see track time". The first time it went into limp mode, 10min of follow the leader, in traffic, never going much over 7000rpm, if at all. Remember, I had instructor with me and another student following to learn the line. This was 10 min of easy track...
  19. Limp Mode on the Track

I hope they can resolve it quickly. Ford lets their dealers do HUGE markups. Porsche and BMW don't allow this from dealers. I'm sure we all paid a hefty premium for our GT350s (love your R). If they don't fix it fast and "do right" by all us initial purchasers, word will definitely get out...
