I have a 2017 GT with the mt82. I've noticed that I get a weird noise at low rpm and also when shifting gears. It sounds like something rattling or maybe clicking. It happens between 1500 and 2000 rpm when in 1st or 2nd like when cruising through a parking lot. It also happens when shifting...
Finally got my car onto a dyno at a show yesterday. I was expecting a bit north of 400 whp based on plenty of other cars out there with similar mods and dyno sheets but ended up at 393. I understand dynos vary and there are tons of other confounding variables but I'm somewhat new to this scene...
I have a 93 tune as well. I'm sure a partial tank of 91 won't hurt anything if you aren't pushing it but that's why I keep some octane booster in the trunk.
Ok, per my earlier post here is my update since adding the JLT. I thought it had been close to 1k miles but actually only about 500. I just took a look and this was what I had. Like I said I drove it really hard last weekend. Lots of 6k+ pulls and general hard driving on country roads. Glad...
I'm not engineer but I have watched Engineering Explained discuss catch cans lol.
But the truth is I've seen quite a few posts like the one above and decided that it was a relatively inexpensive and simple mod that potentially provides some protection to the engine at high RPM. So, I added...
I believe if you have a tune there is a way for the tuner to limit some of that initial noise. That being said, I'm sure you could build some sort of sound deadening box.
I know I was able to re-use my tips on my 2017 but it's not dual tips. I can't really imagine what the limitation would be...
Straight pipes (i.e. true duals) instead of a crossover H or X will give you a lot more crackling and popping which sounds a bit more like older muscle cars. It's not the best for performance. You'll probably lose a few hp and tq especially down low but it sounds good if that's your style...
Tried using heat tape as a half-assed experiment. It's ugly but it works. I'm going to re-do it and be more thorough next time. Idling the car (after full warm up) and letting it heatsoak for 3 mins only brought IATs to 20* over ambient and it drops off quickly when I start moving. They are...
I'm not much for fab work but I'm going to spend some time with adding some insulating tape in a few key areas making sure the box is sealed against the hood well. Other than that I'll add the gt350 inlet and velossa tech. Should get me to about as low of IATs as I'm going to see
I'm about to do the same thing soon so if you find a good solution please post it.
I don't have the piece yet so I haven't even tried. My box is apparently the newer design is almost completely open up front. Is yours like that?
The more I research and the more you all chime in, it seems my experience with these high IATs seems pretty normal so I'm not concerned. I just wasn't aware the temp diffs would be that dramatic. I went ahead and ordered the gt350 inlet duct for now and the velossa tech will be ordered...
I've considered doing some cutting and seeing if I can make it work. It would have to help some. I'm definitely going to rotate the maf as far into the box as possible.
Ok, I have a question for the experts here. I apologize if this has been covered before but I could find very little.
Yesterday I finally had some decent weather and time and installed my PMAS intake (tune required) and VMP tune for it. Got everything installed with minimal headache and...
I said base because that's what I bought. I would have liked the PP and premium packages for a few features but they weren't worth the price to me. So, I guess if I was comfortable with a bigger budget I would have bought those packages but for me it wasn't worth it.
Hello everyone!
Been lurking here a few months but I just decided to join up since I'm just now starting to acquire some real mods. Picked up my 2017 GT base manual car a few months ago. It has the black accent package and that's the only option.
It's my daily driver so I've added...
