Cool. That's convenient. Let us know what they charge (I like to use these numbers to validate toy spend to my wife ---- like the $800 I saved installing the leather upholstery kit myself). I'll have my car up high on jack stands with blocks under the wheels. It should be a piece of cake.
I'll be installing one of these next week when it arrives and will report in on my experience/outcome.
Big shout out and thank you to the Steeda team for being so visible and supportive to the members on this site.
Awesome. My sound deadener arrived today after 3 weeks Amazon very slow delivering. I will spend the weekend applying under the carpet, the console the trunk area and the back seat so I can then reinstall my seats that I just re-covered. Installing the shifter will be a nice easy project :)
Cool. Thanks for the advice! If you handled the install, a quick question.
What did you have to drop/move underneath to complete the removal and installation? I'm going to try the job by loosening the exhaust, supporting the transmission, removing the trans cross member, and lowering the...
OK. I slept on it a few nights and ordered the full race Tri-Ax shifter assembly and the billet collar. I'll report back in a couple weeks when I get it installed and drive the car a bit.
Speaking for myself I would say the original poster is on the money with me. I am 51 and never liked the look of black wheels (old school Magnum 500 guy). However my 2017 PP GT has black wheels and I love the car.
Thanks, Kermitz. Great to know your experience and all the upgrades. Nice job, man. I'd love the full race shifter but am trying to stick to half of the budget ($200 range all in). You are not alone. Great reviews on the Tri-Ax race shifter on the Steeda site.
Gents, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter (street short throw), billet lock out collar and the reinforced poly shifter base bracket (2017 GT PP). Would be great to get thoughts from you guys on any of these that you perhaps installed together or in part.
In case anyone is...
Go for it, Dave. You'll be glad you did.
My other thread on the door panels/inserts (Katzskin kits come with material for the door panels)
While I'm in the interior and have the console removed (not for the seat recover job, but to add sound deadener), I'm about to pull the trigger on a Steeda...
I used a soldering iron to melt the rivet heads to disassemble the door panels/inserts. The inserts and the Katzkin inserts are at the auto upholstery shop now. Before I reinstall, i'll be looking at the door frame to see where I can add sheets/slices of sound deadener material.
I've been researching shifters for my '17 PP GT as well. I settled on the Steeda tri ax street shifter and about to order one. Just so many positive reviews and videos out there on it.
Gents, I pulled one of my door panels off the car a moment ago (2017 GT 300a interior) to evaluate the difficulty of recovering the panel insert supplied with the Katzkin leather seat kit I just installed. The door panel inserts are riveted in place (25 plastic rivets). Before I start shopping...
It's funny...The older I get, the more reality sinks in about the pros and cons of hanging on to and storing things I'll never use again like the original cloth seat material. I see complete sets listed for $150 or so... Some sellers on eBay are listing individual covers for approximately $50...
That is a pretty genius description. It is exactly two wrestling matches per seat.
By the way I thought I might keep my original cloth upholstery but after a 8-10 hour wrestling match, there is no way I'll be revisiting this project! I'll probably sell mine.
