Based on the color temp of the headlamps as seen in shots from the Hoonigan / Vaughn Gitten Jr. reveal I am reasonably certain the dual lens lamp uses a halogen bulb in the projector lens.
Not just you :) Unless there's third option I haven't seen, I'll choose to buy a car with the less expensive (halogen) housing and retrofit a bi-xenon projector and add LEDs into cutouts for the gills. That would give me an additional hi-beam lens for driving lights :).
So I've seen two different headlamp styles thus far, and both styles can be found on GT models.
PROJECTOR + HALOGEN:
PROJECTOR ONLY
The projector + halogen has a different amber reflector mold and a different faux chrome (darker too) mold around the reflector and projector...
The DNA is in there, but it's watered down further than enthusiasts like us would like. They had some exciting GR-1 influenced sketches, but ended up playing it safer.
I'm expecting the mid-cycle refresh or Steeda / Saleen / Roush will offer a front bumper I like better. The front bumper cover on the car as revealed is not ideal, but the rest of the car is a win in my eyes.
Hope you're exaggerating. Even so, most people do a horrible job at washing their cars and that includes hand washing too frequently. For the sake of the Mustangs, I hope Mustang owners can get familiar with best practices in maintaining their paint...
Moderators, I'm not sure where color variations are wanted. Let me know and I'll follow along. For now, here's Oxford White. The car's also been lowered slightly.
Rampant, I had to see what the inboard headlights and grill I posted 5 minutes before you looked like on your rendition. I also went for more of a Dark Highland Green and integrated the passenger side bumper a little more. So we've got some S550 Bullitt flavor. I left your tag in there and...
In 2010-2013 we saw the projector lens both inboard and outboard within the housing. I personally like the S550 better inboard. I also experimented with an alternate grill and black mirrors to minimize them visually.
Despite all the negative, I do have to praise Ford for these choices. In general, car bodies have grown taller and taller over the years. With a reduced height and increased width the 2015 Mustang will look proportionally better and more performance oriented, regardless of styling and details.
I've adjusted the angle on the taillights. I don't think it would be hard for Ford to do the same. The rear bumper cover would just have a minor horizontal shelf where the lights and black panel recess.
The effect is interesting. Almost makes the rear too familiar to my eyes and not new...
I think what Ford chose in the end is good, but I too would like to see the more Jaguar / Aston like earlier renditions.
I have a feeling they're more like what I want in a Mustang. I recognize Ford has to make a jack-of-all-trades with the Mustang, but I personally wanted a more affordable...
