I read somewhere that a design change occurred with the S550 evaporators that sensors were now mounted in the actual evaporator coil instead of having the sensors in the non-pressurized areas of the a/c duct work. The sensors required a hole and the welds around the sensor in the evaporator are...
I called 4 dealerships in Pittsburgh and nobody has done any here that I can find. In fact, the service departments here are not even aware of this a/c problem.
I don't want my car to be the guinea pig they practice dash removal on. My mechanic removes 2 dashes a week due to collision...
I am worried about some hack at the local Ford service department doing a sloppy job removing and reinstalling my dash "when" mine fails also. I've already talked to my local mechanic who I trust will remove and reinstall my dash such that I would never know it was removed. He will charge me...
Another Option instead of getting rid of the car:
I spoke to my local mechanic, who I trust completely, and he said the labor costs to remove and replace my a/c evaporator control box is $550. He removes and reinstalls 2 dash boards a week and guaranteed I would never know it was taken out...
Reading this thread about this evaporator issue is devastating news for me. I have halted all plans to do bolt-ons and am now planning to sell or trade my 2016 GT in. I've owned 10 mustangs over the years and still own a '69 GT350, but I am not holding on to this car with this big evaporator...
That makes sense. I was thinking about the case where I get a bad tank of gas from a small town somewhere. It has happened to me before in my classic car. I am new to this tuning thing and just trying to learn about them. Thanks.
Thanks. If I was on a longer trip and wanted to switch back to the factory tune on the roadside, would that be possible after installing the aftermarket tune? Could you briefly explain what would be needed to do that? Would I need a laptop?
Would my engine possibly be damaged if I got a 93 octane tune, but spent a few months in California where only 91 octane is available? Are there any options to handle this scenario?
I am considering the PP2 for my 2016 GT MT with 3.55s. Does anyone with PP2 or PP3 notice the open air filter getting wet from rain water or when washing the car? I daily drive my car so don't want to have problems with that. I've done some research and found that some water can get in from...
