I filled up at the local Chevron with 91 (Cali) and had the pleasure of paying $6.45/gal. To be fair Chevron is one of the most expensive in the area, the Arco across the street is $5.85/gal.
I keep mine in a garage and it's my daily driver so it goes out rain or shine.
I check the oil @500 miles and I don't go above 4,000 rpm until the oil temp is over 150 degrees.
It currently has 41,500 miles on it and is on its second engine and 7th a/c compressor.
My 2018 which I daily drive has @38,000 miles and has never been to the track. In that time I've replaced 4-5 a/c compressors (can't remember the exact total) and engine, intake manifold, and a few other smaller items. You can probably guess my recommendation.
I just had a similar noise, it only happened on cold start up and went away within a minute or so. The problem turned out to be a stuck butterfly in the intake manifold.
Yes it's paid off and the warranty is transferrable and refundable at a pro-rated basis so I'm going to take the plunge and get it for piece mind. I can also get 0% for 24 months to lessen the pain.
Thank you for your well reasoned reply.
That's the thing, I REALLY like this car. The last car I had that gave me this many smiles was my 1988 MR2 Supercharged (which I abused mercilessly and it never gave me one ounce of trouble in 100,000 miles). I've looked at other cars for the last few...
My cars engine let loose at 28,000 miles at a stop light. I had the dealer do all the servicing, never tracked or abused it in anyway and waited for it to get to temp before exploring the farside of the tach. I must have a bad one. I've NEVER had a car with this many issues regardless of miles...
Ford ESP is not based in California so they can't sell directly to me. I have to get one from a local dealer and they guy at ESP didn't even know what warranty I was talking about.
Sorry misspelling that's been corrected. I was considering buying another warranty for $5,840 that would cover me for an additional 6 years. I've thought about getting something else but I can't find a suitable replacement that I like nearly as much.
