@wingnutt man, youāll be passing me any week now! We just picked up a new Braptor, so the Shelby has been sitting idle and being neglected for weeks now haha.
I have the exact same idea, aiming to shut her down around 100k miles and begin a built block build. Turn it up to 1000+ whp and call it...
Enter the force induction world at your own risk on a factory motor. With that being saidā¦.IMO, as long as the oil consumption is in the normal range and your compression in each cylinder is strong on your voodoo, feel free to get blown.
Depending on what generation motor you have, forged oil...
One way is to drop the rear subframe and replace it all with solid billet pieces and high grade hardware. Additional supports shouldnāt be needed. Just know youāll have increased interior cabin noise.
I used Steeda parts, going on 6 years now. No issues.
There's metal on metal contact somewhere, get under there with a light and locate that rattle. I had a clanking noise over bumps in the rear, found my sway bar touching another part. In other words, go find it and be stress free again!
I do extensive research on all modifications, so luckily no regrets with any mods Iāve done. Only items to note, like many others, some of my Steeda coated parts are showing signs of flaking in some areas. The parts have been functionally great, no failures, just the coating on some corners.

Eclipsed 83,600 this week, all is well. Fresh tires, oil change, drive belt and wash/detail in the last couple of weeks. Not my daily, but drive it often.
My Ford touch-up pen has been put to use on the front bumper over the last few years, but itās nearing time to get my spare cover sprayed...
I personally like the single piece ducktail trunk on the Shelby over the DH-SC attached ducktail. I would consider swapping out those trunk lids if I was ever in the market for the DH-SC. I might even have to go so far to say that I like the entire back end of the Shelby over the DH-SC š...
Iāve done quite a bit of mods to remove weight without stripping the interior. For reference, a local friend with a Whipple kit on his GT350 non-R, everything else stock down to the wheels, weighed in at 4020 with 3/4 tank of fuel.
Took the GT350 to a local performance shop this morning and put her on a set of corner weight scales. Iāve been wanting to see how much weight I was able to remove since adding the Gen 4 Whipple system. I immediately felt the added weight of the blower and have been replacing parts with lighter...
Finally got around to installing the updated Stainless Works mid-pipes I picked up years ago. Had to remove the bottle neck I had worked up.
I initially started off with the Stainless Works headers which offered a step down to the factory exhaust system. Then I upgraded to the Corsa double...
I donāt redline it very often. Only when a suitable foe encourages a spirited dash, though itās been awhile since anyone has stepped up to the plate.
Had I played every weekend, who knows if Iād be here posting positive results :-)
Current mileage: 81k
Original Motor.
Boosted for 65k of the 81k miles.
I average 10k miles a year.
Always warm up the car to 130 F before moving. 190 F before WOT. Oil level checks weekly. Preventative maintenance is key.
Good luck.
