While the A/C clutch may disengage at WOT, as soon as you lift ~1/4” off the throttle, it reengages. Either the clutch fails or the belt shreds. If the A/C belt shreds, it sometimes takes the drive belt with it.
i always turn the HVAC off on the track. I haven’t lost an A/C yet, on any car.
Still have the 2016 GT350 I ordered and was delivered in March 2016. Took it to COTA one month later:
And TWS a few months later:
Hard to believe it will be 10 years old.
That’s some serious old school! 😂
Guess that makes me old as I know exactly what you meant….
However, these housings are plastic and the lights are computer controlled LEDs.
My 2016 GT350 camera went bad a few years ago and was replaced in a recall. Just received a letter that it is being recalled again….
Nothing new on the 2020 GT500 (yet). Camera was already recalled a few years ago. Still works fine. Except the directional lines are gone.
Those various idler pulleys make a squeaking sound when going bad.
Remove the belt and spin each by hand to see if there is an issue. They are cheap to replace. Check the alternator bearings at the same time. They have similar bearings as as the pulleys.
Any auto parts house stocks those...
“Contributing to the amazing performance of the Ford Mustang GTD is its TREMEC transmission, the TR-9080 DCT dual clutch transmission.”
This is the same nomenclature used for the C8. Presume a lot of commonality with that version.
Just bought 9 qts via the Ford Parts app and selected my local Lincoln dealer who only charged ~$25/qt and no shipping (store pickup). Used some old points to boot. Total cost to me was $165.
“Motorcraft batteries are manufactured by Clarios LLC, a global leader in energy storage solutions. Clarios, formerly part of Johnson Controls, produces batteries for various brands, including Motorcraft (the official Ford parts brand), MOPAR, and AutoZone's Duralast.”
My GT350 is over 9 years old and the GT500 is 5.5. Just replaced the rear bakes for the first time on the GT500 and they were only 10% worn! Was very surprised.
I use the stock Motorcraft brake fluid in both my GT350 and GT500 at COTA. Never had a problem in all my years doing HPDEs there. Both of those cars can handle COTA in stock form.
While all this advice is good, as a newbie, just be careful and enjoy the day. The car will be fine. Fresh...
2016 Tech Packs only have the oil cooler. They did not come with the trans or diff cooler. Someone could have added those aftermarket:
As you face the front of the car, left lower grill would contain the trans cooler radiator.
Look inside the lower rear facia for the diff cooler radiator.
Nice looking car in NW Ohio if interested:

Regarding 3rd party ESP coverage: my service guy says most of them are just fine. But some have a labor rate ceiling and you get to pay the difference.
No ceiling with Ford’s.
Not sure, but I think the pressure relief valve is before the filter? I notice in all three Shelbys that the oil pressure jumps up on cold start, but never goes above 100 something, regardless of RPM.
The only GT500 claimed filter problem was actually crushed during a bad installation. Have...
I kept my 2016 GT350 on a tender and it lasted 6.5 years before a no start.
Dropped in a new 696 CCA from Batteries Plus and all is well.
My GT500 battery is now 5.5 years old and on a tender. Wonder how long it will last…
