  1. FORD RACING is Back... Ford Performance rebranding to Ford Racing

Ahhhh, truer words have never been spoken Paul. Almost a year ago I bought an Aluminator engine, new in crate, from a LARGE Ford Performance (FP) certified reseller. If you know about the Aluminators, they are not only basically "blueprinted" when they are reassembled at FP, they are also...
  2. Any Detroit area folks on this forum?

Personally, I haven't gone down to Woodward on the actual Cruise day (Saturday) in quite a few years. It's pretty much a parking lot, but you have to classify that too: 1). Woodward Ave. from about I-696 on the South end, North to about Maple rd. (15 Mile Rd.) is a near parking lot for most of...
  3. Any Detroit area folks on this forum?

Autocross is a riot! I haven't done it in the Mustang yet, but I did do it in the Cobra a couple times...
  4. Any Detroit area folks on this forum?

I was down there until 11pm last night. TONS of nice cars out last night but I was kinda bummed; I saw more Lambos than I saw classic Mustangs (1973 or older) 5 Lambos, 4 Classic Stangs..... :-( I'll be down on Woodward tonight. When I'm not rolling, I usually park at the Comerica Bank which is...
  5. What weight oil do you use?

I agree with you Dan. I ordered some of the 5W50 from the local APS yesterday afternoon. Hope it's in this weekend as I really want to get fresh oil in the beast so I can start running it the way to was meant to run.
  6. Oil Filters: Stock? Aftermarket? No-Bypass? Poll...

Looks like there are quite a few differences between the FPP FL820 and the Motorcraft FL820S. More pleats (thus more filter element surface), heavier metal base plate, heavier/thicker block gasket...
  7. What weight oil do you use?

Holy Crap! I now have a Gen.3 Aluminator motor in my car (along with custom exhaust/no cats) and I just looked at the FPP build sheet specs and Ford recommends 5W-50 full synthetic oil in it! I might try out this Castrol Euro A3/B4 oil in it (this is my second break-in oil change on the motor...
  8. Who has the pleasure of regular access to 93?

Right now, 93 octane is probably hovering around $4.20/gallon (it's usually @ $1/gallon more than 87 octane, and that's running around $3.19 because that's what I paid for 87 last night in my daughter's car). My local Sam's club has 93 octane @ $3.79 right now.
  9. Who has the pleasure of regular access to 93?

The 93 is likely 91 octane straight gas that gets the 2 point octane boost from the addition of @10% ethyl..
  10. Who has the pleasure of regular access to 93?

We're pretty lucky in MI. I also can find both 93 octane and VERY high alcohol content E85 quite regularly (I've tested over 90% ethyl before at my local Speedway). In the winter, in northern lower peninsula MI. and in MI.'s U.P., I've even found 91-93 octane Rec-gas (no alcohol content)...
  11. What weight oil do you use?

Wanna hear a funny and 100% true story about oil filling? In my senior your of HS, I had a buddy whose slightly older sister decided she was going to change the oil in her/her family's early/mid 70's Pontiac Lemans (307/350 V8 engine? Can't remember). Well, she actually bought the correct oil...
  12. What weight oil do you use?

Thanks Mike, I'm leaning to agree with you that the zinc/ZDDP is likely not as much of an effect on the cats as "they say" it can be. Especially with the variable zinc contents of the heavier weight oils that ou illustrated (unless they are thinking those much heavier weights will likely be...
  13. Are you normally aspirated, supercharged, or turbocharged?

Ok, Excuse my possible ignorance here, but is the Whipple actually a 100% PD/Roots type of blower? Because I have been told that, because of the screw design, it really isn't. The Ford/Roush/TVS types of blowers are more so a Roots type and thus, are much harder on the driveline at launch...
  14. What weight oil do you use?

OK, I normally would say "YEA!" for higher zinc/ZDDP content, but that was with my AC Cobra that had no cats at all (or mufflers for that matter really! LoL...). I used to run the old the old diesel oils (15W40) becasue they used to have much higher zince/ZDDP content. But that isn't rue...
  15. What weight oil do you use?

WoW! For real? I hadn't heard that... Thanks!
  16. What weight oil do you use?

I run 5-30. If you don't flog it/track it a lot, or get caught in a lot of large summertime traffic jambs where your car will be running very hot while rolling along at slow speeds (poor cooling), then 5-20 will be fine. If you lived in a hotter environment and flogged the car very regularly...
  17. Oil Pressure Sensor Location???

I believe this question applies to all the Coyote generations, but my personal experience is limited to Gen. 3 for the most part. 1). From my understanding, on a stock Coyote motor, the oil pressure sensor is located/tapped into the oil filter adaptor which is mounted on the front side of the...
  18. Gunshot loud pop from exhaust when upshifting.

Back in the old days, loud backfires usually mean running to rich/extra fuel in the exhaust in combination with an exhaust leak. The extra fuel in the pipes will sometime detonate when it gets a little oxygen boost of outside air coming into the mix from the leaky pipes. Could be old fuel...
  19. Are you normally aspirated, supercharged, or turbocharged?

NA with LT headers, JLT intake, custom exhaust and a tune right now. LOVING IT so far! Maybe a 3.0L Whipple Stage 2 addition this coming winter. The ESS comments above have me interested (is that basically a centrifugal/Procharger type?). I really need a ride in a forced induction Stang to...
