Porsche offers 23+fuel tank in fron
I don’t think any change to existing fuel tank location or size is going to happen unfortunately 😞
Porsche 911 has all that extra space in the front of the vehicle to play with (without the front differential) compared to the GTD.
I haven’t done any HPDE events at Daytona, but can you have someone just refuel you in the hot pits area ? Shouldn’t cost that much given you guys spending close to $400,000 for this track capable road car.
the added weight of 5 gallons fuel is negligible given the +4200 lb curb weight. Also, the benchmark GT3 RS offers an extended fuel tank of 23.7 gallons, for comparison
Lots of good advice here. If you’re happy with the color, I would drive the car you have until the wheels fall off. Color and condition trumps everything else when it comes to these special, low production GT350R mustangs 😎😎😎

I wouldn’t be to preoccupied about magnesium wheels from Ford OEM. Could always get a set from these guys, with a custom...
Yes, the fuel tank size is an unsolvable problem at this point for the GTD, or any modern Mustang 😞. Kudos to porsche for offering and extended range 23+ gallon tank for the GT cars !
I remember when SVTPerformance interviewed Jamal Hameedi (former Ford Performance chief engineer) when the GT350 was revealed in LA circa 2015 and the subject of weight reduction came up. He basically said, unless you start with a carbon fiber tubbed car, there aren’t any silver bullets for...
As soon as I heard supercharged engine and transaxle, I knew any hope at curb weight near the GT350R was out the window. So wish they went that direction with the NA engine used in the GT3 Race car 😞
As a fellow GT350 owner, all of this is heresy !!! …. But I reluctantly agree with you 😞
I briefly owned a 2020 GT500 at same time as my GT350R, and I drove both on track/street, and the GT500 felt inherently smoother and eager to rev. And the power ! 😮😮😮. But end of day, there’s nothing...
Some interesting commentary already. In my opinion, makes the Dark Horse nameplate more historical looking into the future (homologated versions with the purpose built Dark Horse R and Dark Horse S factory race cars) versus the GT350/GT350R unfortunately.
Maybe we will see a ford performance...
This has been an interesting thread, and I am following along as a non GTD allocated Mustang fan. To me, part of the allure of the performance mustangs (SVT, Ford performance, Shelby American) was the American approach for an affordable performance vehicle. My 2016 GT350R had an MSRP of around...
And Ford should be hopefully beat the AMG GT black series Nurburgring lap time of 6:43. Again a car with a front mounted V8 and 50:50 weight distribution and a transaxle, and likely same curb weight (approx 3,700 lb)...
One thing to keep in mind is that you have to applaud Ford’s commitment and approach to making such a track capable car unlike anything else in the sub 7:00 Nurburgring club.
Supercharged, big displacement, cross plane, thundering (I.e. American sounding) V8 motor in the front
50:50 weight...
