There are a lot of questions to be asked when you swap any transmission into any car.
-How's the ratio spread? Is it wider or closer? Better for lower or higher-RPM engines?
-Will you need a custom clutch? The diameter and tooth count of the Tremec inpuit shaft may be different. Pressure plate...
This happens more often than you think on the trucks we work on. One particular tech on the other shift never tightens down the turbo clamps enough and sure enough, POP. Sounds like a flat, sometimes the hose will caught just right that it'll flutter like a flat too. Then we have to send out...
Eh, IDK. Starter and alternator are $30 each so it wouldn't exactly be breaking the bank. My dad is going to reupholster the seat, and I'm going to get a new carpet and headliner. Wiring has to be done anyways, the previous owner pretty much ruined that. First I have to get new wheels and tires...
I would love that cup car...
Honestly I don't care about the mouth-breathers. I honestly assume that most of them haven't driven one, and therefore don't get it.
Believe me, I'll be up at VIR the first chance I get with it.
No, probably not. But at least I'm not comparing it to a Camry or something stupid like that. Both cars are insanely fun, but just in their own different ways. That's really the only way they compare.
The battery isn't too old, but the wiring and the starter are. I bought the truck after it sat for 17 years, so yeah. Plus it never runs enough to get the battery charged back up.
Stupid ancient alternator.
Compared to a Miata, it's a sledgehammer. Just for reference, this comparison doesn't really seem to be that far off. I just remembered that I had a friend of mine go from a NC Miata, to a SRT-8 Challenger, to a NA Miata. Not because he couldn't afford the latter two, but because he said the NA...
I've worked night shift almost entirely my whole working life, from fast food to being a tech. I haven't been diagnosed with it, but I consider not falling asleep until 0800 or later insomnia.
Work 1500-0000 every weeknight.
If the Miata is as fast as my Volvo, I'll be perfectly happy. But the Mustang is the opposite. It's my "going all-out." Where speed is the most important aspect. The one that lands me behind bars (hope not).
Thanks for the awesome post. However I'm not looking at either a base Miata or a base GT Coupe. See the words base in there? Less is more, I live by that saying. Miata wins here. I'm a diesel technician, I do it specifically because I did not want to spend the rest of my life sitting behind a...
My first vehicle was a Ford Ranger. I am more than used to a small cabin, and actually feel more comfortable in it. I still have it, I could never get rid of it. My Volvo on the other hand, the love is starting to fade. Yes it's a great car, and I enjoy driving the Swedish unicorn, but I feel it...
