When was the last oil change completed? Who did the work? How many miles has the car been driven since? Could the belly pan be full of oil and when you started to dump the clutch it splashed up on the engine / exhaust manifolds?
With all of the machined surfaces i would not powder coat them because of the coating thickness. I would anodize. I would search google as I am sure you could find an aluminum plater in your area.
