I love this car, but whatever software/hardware they put in this thing is the most inconsistent and frustrating to use infotainment I've had in my many cars. Anyone ever have the factory head unit *not* be able turn off? I had my phone plugged in for Android Auto, and then unplugged it. Well...
Took him out for a drive when the sun was out on Sunday and the cold weather had me thinking some things.
1. At what temp *does* condensate in oil get boiled off, and for how long should we hold at that temp to ensure this happens?
2. Trans shifts nice and smooth even in 20* ambient temps. I...
I think I know why my oil temps weren't as high as expected. The gaff tape didn't adhere very well to the fender liner and must've been flapping around and open while we were moving. Prolly should've cleaned the mounting surfaces better.
I've got an R with the back seats and they're really not fit for humans. You'd slip a disc trying to fit a car seat back there, my 9yo fits with the passenger seat nearly all the way forward and vertical, and I once sat a full grown but smaller man back there for 20 minutes and he and my front...
The taping (didn't photo the fender liner).
At startup in the underground parking garage. Ambient temp was like 60, car hadn't been driven for 2 days.
After 30 minutes of low speed suburb driving in 41*F ambient temps, a few red lights, total about 20 miles. I took 1st through 3rd up to 3k...

$30k GT350 with a sketch AF listing HOLLAAAAA.
I got my Granger warranty for my 2017 by emailing them. They are super helpful and responsive.
Gaff tape on! I did both the exit vents behind the wheel and the inlet vent on the front bumper. Ambient temps here in the Chicago burbs are supposed to max out around 40* F this afternoon and I got a half hour drive coming up, and some wacky temps in the coming days (highs of 50's and 20's)...
I brought this up with my local service tech, most recently during the oil change before winter. He recommended I stick with 0W-50 but if I'm really concerned, follow the "severe" schedule for oil changes so I'll be going in again after 3k miles.
Took it out for a Sunday drive with the kiddo to get a quick bath and say "hi" to my grandma who's ashes we spread around a local nature preserve. Had a lot of trouble keeping oil temps above 150* and the revs below 4k. It's this constant push/pull, like "go faster but also let me warm up first!"
Yeah I just saw the area weather report. True misery begins next week.
I'm going to try and seal up the fender liner vents next week and pending some relatively dry roads, see what oil temps I can achieve. Took it out yesterday and only managed to hit 168 on a 40 minute local loop.
I took mine off, and opted not to have them re-shod when I got new tires, instead going with some beater aftermarket set.
Where I drive (Chicago and suburbs), it's not a question of if but when you lose a rim. Just take a drive down Rte 53 before it becomes 355 any given morning and see how...
