The 1911 is a wonderful thing, and Springfield makes a great one. Been in love with those things since I fired my first one in the Army, no other weapon quite like it. :thumbsup:
I keep it in the center console while driving, and a spare magazine in the sunglasses holder. If I'm in a bad area I keep the console open to get to it quicker if needed. And one in the ankle holster just in case, which is real easy to get to in a vehicle. :D
Sorry about your car bring hit, I would have been pretty pissed off when they refused to give up their insurance info, definitely would have gotten the cops involved.
Only time I get the "thunk" is when putting it into gear from dead stop. But with my car I've found that if I hesitate for a second after engaging the clutch, before putting it into gear, there is no "thunk".
