Flutter when not in boost is normal for a lot of valves. It doesn't hurt the turbo at all and happens on most cars with small quick spooling turbos with mechanical valves. Even valves like the HKS will flutter a little on a stock turbo EBM. If it made a flutter when in boost it's probably...
If you are looking to get the most out of the FP tune in the 1/4 I'd get some kind of scanning and logging tool. it would helpful to check on things like the Octane Adjust Ratio (OAR) which should be at -1 for maximum performance on 92/93 fuel. Also the Charge Air Temp would be good to look...
Definitely not tune related. I tried stock tune, Cobb stage 1, and I adjusted the tune to run off the wastegate only which should only be 8-9 psi but will still overboost well past that.
Mightyvac is an excellent idea. I have one around here with a broken gauge and I do have a boost gauge...
This is my First turbo car and want to be sure I'm diagnosing this correctly. this will get technical but I know we have some seasoned turbo people here that should get what I'm at. Try and follow along. :D
I started to have an overboost issue today. I swapped CAI from FFTec to the Vargas...
Its all installed. I'll post up some pics once I clean up under the hood a little bit. Its nasty from driving in the snow and junk but it looks empty. Like there is no intake at all on the car. I might just make a coolant tank relocation bracket to fill the huge empty space on the drivers side...
Its taken a few weeks but I finally got the chance to take some pics of the Vargas passenger side intake. I'll be installing it today and Replacing the FFTec CAI I have on the car now.
IAT extension still in the package.
I've read the WIX 51516XP will also work if you want a crazy tall filter. Not tried it myself.

My car is a real early build... built in Nov 2014. Bought the Cobb on preorder the day before I ordered the car itself and tossed the stage 1 OTS tune on it before the first tank was out. The Car is full bolt on, been through a bunch of tunes, runs methanol, and is daily driven in all weather...
Yup the stock tune will limit most mods because of the load limits in place on the stock tune. An upgraded Intercooler would be about the only one to make real gains on the stock tune because it keeps the charge air temps down and out of the charge air temp limit protections.
I agree there were changes. all cars have running changes during their production live so it's nothing new or out of the ordinary and it still does not justify calling it an epidemic and a reason to be super paranoid about it.
Yup grossly exaggerated sums it up. about a dozen 2015 EBs blew on this board from late 2014 to now. Of those around half of them were people that knew they were pushing it or did something silly like stack a pcm tune on top of a Boostmax.
If it's below 2500 with high throttle input it is probably LSPI or low speed pre-ignition safety kicking in. on these super fast spooling tiny turbo cars it can easily build enough boost at low rpm to cause catastrophic failure if it hits any knock. I suggest leaving that safety in place...
Ahh its all Facebook stuff which is the reason there is nothing on here when I've searched. I'm not signing up for Facebook to search for it. Can I get basic cliff notes of what the gains were? are we talking about double digit hp gains or was it 2-3hp?
