In case some members don’t know, all Corvettes bodies are made from SMC.

The hood comes from the supplier primed in black and then is painted body color (white topcoat). From your pictures, the fractures are black which indicates the fractures happened after the hood was painted white. If the crack was present prior to applying the body color then the fractures...

One more piece of the puzzle, both cracks happened after the topcoat was cured on the hood.

I believe it is a SMC (sheet molding compound) hood. That reinforcement definitely looks like it is also SMC.

Did you just cut off the alligator clips and then wire it directly to the terminals?

Can you put the ceramic coating over the vinyl stripes?
