What's the deal with "compatible with reverse lockout"? What needs too be different about these shifter knobs for the reverse lockout to work?

If I changed the shifter knob, I would remove the numbers and shift diagram. Just a clean white, or maybe green, orb.

I was white water rafting a few weeks ago on the Kern river with my son, and I took that same twisty road in the rental car. On the way home, I stopped by the Ford dealership and bought the Mustang Bullitt!

I had the same problem and my Bullitt is parked out of range from my home wifi. Eventually, I created a hotspot with my phone and connected the car to that. After it checked for updates, I stopped receiving the message.
