The European R's have a better setup for dealing with the DI woes. Although I think if you drive it spiritedly on a regular basis that certainly helps =)
The DSG and engine are rock solid, you'll find few issues on the forums, even on heavily tracked MK7R's. They did their homework on this...
I have a rattle that is somewhere within the polished aluminum trim piece above the radio on the Premium GT. Just pushing on it will make it go away for a bit but it always returns. If anyone knows of a quick fix for this one, I'd love to hear it. Other than that, it's rock solid.
That's...
I've had a wide variety of fast cars and I can tell you that the MK7R can be made wicked fast for cheap. It handles amazingly well, has terrific brakes, outstanding chassis and its dual clutch transmission is one of the best on the market. The EA888 2.0 is one heck of an engine too...
Same squeal on shutdown here too. Just got the car 2 weeks ago  Hopefully it's an easy fix though. First time it happened, I pulled into the garage, shut the car off and squeeeeaaaaaaak. My wife and I both gave each other the same look  I told her it would no doubt be on the...
I've had the same combo in my garage...just not at the same time, LOL. It's pretty awesome we have these awesome machines in our market right now. The golden era for sure. Now you just need to add a murdered out GT-R to your collection and you'll be set
The R definitely doesn't go for flash but that's part of its brilliance. It's very sleek, understated but even with just springs and a front splitter, it greatly adds some aggression to the looks. Being based off the S3, it has an interior and build quality that matches if not surpasses it's...
My 6-speed SP was fully loaded (everything minus the shaker package which wasn't out yet). Bar none the best stock exhaust system I have ever heard. As soon as I started the engine and the active exhaust system valves opened up I was sold =) Well, I was sold way prior but that helped seal the...
A tuned MK7R with DSG is a ridiculous sleeper. I"ve had a tuned WRX, stage 3 Evo X and my R would have walked all over them. It's one of those rides that only enthusiasts gawk at and stop to chat. The DSG is extremely robust. Burger Tuning launched theirs over 500 times, combined with...
LOL, oh I agree it's a bad machine. Notice though, if they match it up against the MK7R with DSG its simply faster. The hooligan factor goes to the RS though  Drift mode is sure to be a fun way to end the life of your tires in record time :D
Ha! Yep, that was me. He couldn't believe it. We ran three times, identical results. That GT500 was gnarly though, he would have dusted me from a roll no doubt. He actually has a GT350 now. I haven't seen it yet but I"m sure it's awesome.
The JB1 is bar none the best piggyback I have...
I'm telling you, they will surprise you! Fantastic machines...the best AWD turbo hatch in the US under 40K and the twin-clutch trans is just phenomenal. Ford needs to get a twin clutch for the RS in the future. That would be rad.
That's pretty wild considering how much heavier they are combined with you tuned. The Golf R with the JB1 tune was a complete sleeper that ran low 12's and high 11's with bolt-ons. It shocked more people than I can count :D
I really missed the raw V8 power, sound and menacing look of a...
Getting out of the gate in the 6 speed SP can be a tussle; where as with the 8-speed you do a low rev launch and from there simply keep it floored. Pretty big 1/4 mile difference in manual vs auto in the SP or SRT models. It was the same though with the dual clutch Golf R and 6 speed manual...
