  1. New car time. What cars are you considering w/replacing your Mustang?

I had the same thoughts about the diff overheat issue on my 2016 PP1. However, I have wrapped the exhaust where it goes around the diff, and put a very effective set of hood vents in which dropped my engine peak temps way down. I have yet to have an axle overheat warning this year. This is...
  2. verus/trackspec hood vents

The wickers on my Race Louvers RT spec center vent are 22mm high. Each vane on that unit has a different height, size and angle, no two are exactly the same. They obviously put a lot of thought and testing into this unit judging by the way it is built. It is highly effective, my peak engine...
  3. Powerstop track day or stock PP pads

I've run both the OEM PP pads and the PowerStop Track Day pad. Hands down the OEM PP pads are better, albeit ridiculously expensive. The Track Day pads give up totally in long hard braking zones or repeated braking segments that the PP pads handle without issue. The faster the laps you run...
  4. Optimum Gear Ratio For Road Racing

LOL! $25K difference just for the gearbox alone, not counting who knows how much to actually install one. But who's counting?
  5. verus/trackspec hood vents

Looks great. Did you put the wicker on them? Doesn't look like it. The wicker is pretty important in making it work properly. They look pretty decent, think I'm going to dive in for a set to complement my Race Louvers center vent.
  6. Putting GT350 seats into a GT- issues?

Ford. My 300A car had only 2 options, PP1 and Recaros which is all I wanted as I bought it for a track toy. Should have not got the Recaros since I'm going to end up replacing them anyway.
  7. New car time. What cars are you considering w/replacing your Mustang?

Nothing. Gonna drive this bitch until I'm too old or stupid to do it well. Just keep putting more mods on it and enjoy!
  8. resonator delete

I put the Steeda H pipe resonator delete on mostly to lose some useless weight, everything else is stock. A buddy was sitting in the stands on the front straight when I was doing a track day, he said he could hardly hear the thing going by. My track rat neighbour says my car is louder on the...
  9. Rant time...what's the worst thing about your Mustang?

That I get about 7 mpg on track. Would be nice if I could get 30 mpg and still run 145 mph up the back straight. That's gotta be possible, right?
  10. Performance pack spoiler

Do any of these "spollers" (cue Darrell Waltrip) actually produce any downforce or are they just decorations? Downforce I could use, decorations, not so much.
  11. Track Day Pads

One of my stock PP front pads cracked a very small amount, not sure it's a big deal but they were getting near enough to end of life to trash them anyway. As you go faster these pads will become less than ideal, I've progressed to race pads now which are better able to take the extra heat being...
  12. Please educate me on a track helmet

It would be good to know who those bodies are that demand a full face helmet, that way you could avoid them. Obviously they are a little over the top on the safety aspect of it. A couple of groups I know of don't even require a helmet if you have a late model car with containment bags and you...
  13. Video of Track Days

When you use Race Render/TrackAddict's built in ability to export from the source hardware (in my case a phone) to Race Render on the PC it will bring over all the data and video. You're going to end up with: 1./an .rrp file that is the project file once you save the project 2./an .mp4 that...
  14. The Big Fat Track Car Cooling Thread

Evaporative cooling! You might be onto something there, that should be interesting.
  15. Putting GT350 seats into a GT- issues?

They're heavy AF. If you're paying a lot for them I'd just go to a much lighter aftermarket seat more suited to track work. I have Recaros and unless you're planning on a installing a 4, 5 or 6 point harness you're going to slide around in the seat once you get near what the car can do in...
  16. Please educate me on a track helmet

I got an open face RaceQuip helmet, cheap and cheerful. Open face, Snell 2015 approved. Hard to beat the price. I wear glasses too, you might get interference on the ear pieces if they're fairly long, but that also happened with my Bell Mag4. Just shorten the frames a bit, problem solved.
  17. For owners with cats, how do i keep them away

Why do you let your cats out anyway? Cats don't need to be outside, I've had cats for 40 years and other than the 5 years I was farming and I needed professional rodent control, at which they have no peers, they stayed in the house. They're fine indoors, and live a hell of a lot longer. But I...
  18. Video of Track Days

With Track Addict on your phone install RaceRender 3 on your computer. When you record a video with TrackAddict and you're getting data it will manage all that for you. Track Addict can connect to a bluetooth OBDII adapter, just don't get a cheap one they don't work, but I don't believe it is...
  19. The Big Fat Track Car Cooling Thread

Yeah, yours is about 4" further back than mine I would guess, the front edge of my opening is 2" behind the rad. You can see from the pic that Race Louvers take a very different approach than Trackspec. They've got data to back it up. I didn't do this just for cooling even though that was...
  20. The Big Fat Track Car Cooling Thread

Your center hood vent is a long way back, did they tell you to mount it that far back? The Race Louvers one has to be installed 2" behind the back of the rad for maximum air extraction. Having it as far back as yours is allows hot air to get further into the engine room. You want the air...
