Without being as sarcastic, this is exactly what I'm saying. The alpha platform with their larger, more torque engine is very relevant. If ford didn't lose or at least keep weight the same, you're going to see mustang playing catch up to the 16 maro. If that happens, yes Ford will do their...
I agree that the new IRS should be lighter than the SLA, but still keeping my hopes in check. Everyone is spewing insider info, I'm just waiting on numbers. This is a roller coaster.
Oh look, someone who knows what they are talking about. Funny, thought they were all off the internet by now.
Edit: remember those "tanks" that were the 73 stang? Look at one next to a 14. Compare the weights too. Go on, I'll wait. Then look at the 68s. We are way bigger and heavier now. Not...
That has yet to be seen, and even so, lighter is always better at the strip. I'm thinking competition here, and if the camaro loses 200 and the mustang gains 200 or even if the camaro stays the same and the mustang gains, EVEN if the 15 mustang is quicker than the 14, the 16 camaro should be...
They can gain weight and still do that. What they can't do is gain weight and be faster at the drag strip. Yeah they can add power, but I still see the 2016 camaro being faster at the strip if this mustang gains 200-300 pounds
Well. Damn. Power plus weight plus gearing equals straight line performance. I know a lot of you people are autocross fans, but I like to work on the 1320. That was the one advantage we had over the camaro. They had the cubes and torque, we had the weight. Alpha platform for the camaro plus...
And if the 520 HP rumour is true, they are looking specifically at the z/28. I wonder how it will stack up, I mean hell, if the gt beats a boss... I think the z/28 will have its hands full at the very least.
I think this is educated guess work, but guess work nonetheless. I'm doubtful on DI on the gt350 for the first year, but maybe if they couldn't pull a FPC off then they went DI route. I still think it is speculation at best
While I agree with everything you are saying, I'm also saying the 3.55s or 3.73s won't even be as bad as 3 mpg, which is what I see with a 5 speed and 4.10s. I think the 3.73s were worth 1 mpg highway change on the 2013s I was looking at, I bet the EB PP with 3.55s won't even have an EPA change...
Meh, I went from 3.27s to 4.10s in my 01 cobra, didn't effect city mileage at all, and 2-3 mpg on the highway. Going to 3.55s MAYBE would have been 1 mpg. So not a huge loss to 3.55s honestly. And that's with a 5 speed. The 6 speed will notice the mileage hit even less
An assumption yes, but educated. It has over 305 HP and the ecoboost torque curves are amazing. And it has over 300 lb. Ft. of torque. Meaning that if it felt weaker than they were hoping, it probably was either no 3.55s or not much weight loss. He could have been hoping it pulled like a 300 HP...
Didn't feel as strong as they hoped. I'm guessing that translates into no weight loss. Hopefully the quip about the 5.0 being way better is true, and then I won't be too disappointed.
The lights do look different, and not in a bad way
I love the more aggressive front splitter. Is that a performance pack thing, or a GT thing or ? Anyone know? Can't wait for some details! Thanks Jar, you always deliver!
