Hi all. So I'm trying to get my head around the installation of the DS1 and Audison AP4D. I have the car specific iDatalink harness (F03). I'm looking at this diagram, and what I' struggling to understand is why I would need to connect both the stock speakers wires to the amp, and the set of...
Thanks for that.
Regards point 1) "you plug in the HRN-AR-FO3 cables into the connectors at the stock amplifier" - does that mean I have to leave the stock amplifier in place? I thought the HRN-AR-FO3 (& DSR1) allowed me to remove the stock amp?
Update for those that care. After Cathul's well received comments, I risked divorce and ordered another ÂŁ800 worth of kit. The full list is as per the below;

Ok, so I'm looking for someone to confirm my assumptions below.
I am going to install a Rockford Fosgate DSR1, with Maestro cable etc etc. I'll source one somehow...
Am I correct in assuming that the following amps will work with the signal prepared by the DSR1...
2ohm kits are available (hard to find though), but if you're replacing all the speakers in the cabin, it doesn't need to be 2ohm. To be honest, you could even replace the doors speakers with the 4ohm three way kit, remove the center speaker (please do, you won't regret it!), and leave the 2ohm...
So I really struggled with this exact issue. I ended up going for a set of 3 way components (there are a few options out there) as it was the cheapest way to get a higher quality set of 3.5" mid woofers.
After much thought, I've decided I will fit the new speakers myself, utilising the stock amps. If then I'm still yearning for a bit more, or if i have upsetting noise, I'm going to take it to a local installer and let them advise me/do the work. Will be a first for me, as I'm usually capable of...
Ok. Would I be correct in saying this would serve well as an amp preceded by the DSR1? It is officially designed to extend one of Audison’s DSP enabled amps. I see no reason why it would complain at following the DSR1 instead? https://www.audison.eu/products/ap4-d/
A lot to digest, for sure. So helpful though, so thank you.
Regrettably I can't source the HRN-AR-FO3 here in the UK. I can get the FO2, any idea what the differences are? Are there other options? Presumably this makes it a plug and play solution with regards to connecting the head unit to the...
I've got the 12 speaker system. What does that change?
I'm aware I'll need two amps. Can I physically remove the existing ones? What's the ACM in this context? The head unit? If I can still use the EQ/Fade/Balance and have crossovers directing frequencies why would I need a DSP?
Ok, so the steps would be:
1) Source an amp with a built in DSP (I'm sure it will suffice) Fit the speakers and wire them to the amp. Presumably I can wire it in exactly the way the existing amp is wired? I'd need to remind myself, but I think I'd need 4 channels for the car, excluding the...
That's some great information right there, thank you. A lot to think about. I think I'll proceed with the current plan, and if I'm still disappointed go down the aftermarket amp route. Would I need to run a power feed directly off the battery and add a fuse box? Is there not an existing suitably...
Thanks for that. I have to admit, I was hoping not to add amps/dsps, as the existing system gets plenty loud enough for me. It's just too muddy for my tastes. I want to add some clarity and some quality. I'm also not sure I understand high level output v.s. line level outputs. What do you mean...
Oh agreed. I have absolutely no intention of changing heat unit. There just aren’t any good options, plus the camera/navigation is a challenge. Not insurmountable, but make
It harder.
You mention setting the outputs from the head unit to stock. Should I be doing that based on my setup?
Any...
Ok. So I've read this thread, and many others on Mustang6g. Firstly, a huge thank you to all contributors. This site is easily the best, most dedicated and supportive forum I've encountered.
So, I'm looking for a sense check on my plans for my Mustang audio, and would appreciate any thoughts...
