Interesting. Mine makes a high pitched whine noise when stationary (but in drive). Its really noticble when in a drive thru or in a garage. But the noise goes away when I start moving. Try doing some tests next to a wall and see what you hear. Reversing, going forwards, staying still, etc...

Pretty sure all the map data is downloaded/updated and stored on the car its self via its always connected modem. and I am pretty sure Ford got rid if the SD card readers years ago.
