"On that note, carbon brakes are notoriously fragile. If the home mechanic chips the rotors, there's another mongo money repair."
Great find! The above is what I'm worried about. AP Racing has always been my goto for up an upgrade once I'm faster than the stock brakes allow.
I've always been afraid of ccb because of the risk of cracking if I accidentally bump too hard putting wheels on and off or a big enough rock getting thrown in at high speed. Is that a real risk? You read people talking about that on forums, but I know how false info can spread like wild fire.
Status is what they buy. I'd rather have the performance bargain and let the non car people think it's just another corvette, camaro, mustang, challenger, etc...
For sure about needing the correct alignment. Same with the ZL1.
Have you had a chance to drive or at least ride along in a non CFTP car for comparison, i.e. speed phenom's GT500? Very interested in the effects of the super light carbon wheels on keeping the car settled.
Awesome videos! Any idea how much longer the rear tires last than the fronts, i.e. number of sessions? I know you did some drifting that day which would skew things. Did you have track alignment?
Yeah at higher speeds the horsepower starts going towards battling drag instead of weight when acceleration is negligible (stating the obvious, I know :)).
