And I thought I was crazy. Now it is official, there is a tick on a lot of engines. The difference is now that they say it is normal, which is kind of stupid. Cera Tec still works for me, rattle didn't come back since August 2018. I have to change my oil soon and will add 500ml CeraTec again...
If you get an engine change from Ford I would bet that you get the tick again.
As I said earlier, I think there is no replacement. Couldn't find anything from Ford, I think that is the reason why many 2018 Mustangs have the BBQ tick from factory.
I would give it a shot. So far everything...
OK guys, Ceratec in for 1 week now. Today i was back at work after a week of vacation and the tick is still 100% gone, normally I hear the BBQ very clearly and loud when I leave the parking garage at work, but today nothing. Just a nice V8 burble like it should be.
As I wrote before, I was at...
I bought the 300ml bottle. Dumped the whole bottle in. The manual says it will last for 30000 miles. If the tick comes back after the next change, I will add Ceratec again.
Drove 60 miles today. BBQ is still gone. This stuff saved me. I hated that BBQ tick. If you have the same tick that I had, use the Ceratec. Problem solved for me. I have to thank Google and other mustang forums that they helped me to find out that an oil additive is the solution
That's how my...
I put the liquid moly ceratec in today. Afterwards I started the car. The tick seems to be completely gone. I have to do further testing eapespecia in the parking gatage at work but there was no tick today at all.
A lot of people have that tick! I have it too. Check out this thread here.

Lots of info in there.
It seems to be "normal" and it can be eliminated with Motorcraft oil modifier XL-17. Only problem, that...
I found XL-18 but I don't know what it is actually for. XL-17 is discontinued. LOL Ford can't fix the issue anymore... Can't we find out somehow what the XL-17 really was, maybe there is something similar to replace it.
Here is a picture of the XL-17

So, how do we get this? Would be nice if you all could help finding it somewhere.
I can't find the XL-17 but I found this here:
https://www.amazon.com/Liqui-Moly-2009-Anti-Friction-Treatment/dp/B00LU3Z2MC
Liqui Moly is a german company (i'm originally from Germany) and it is a brand that I trust. If I can't find the additive from Ford, I will give this one a shot. But I will...
Did some more diggin on the Typewriter tick on the powerstroke and on the "strange fix" that one guy had in 2010 for his Coyote. See here: https://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/2011-2014-mustang-talk/250613-2011-mustang-5-0-engine-problem-fords-strange-fix.html
This strange fix or mystery...
My tick is more noticeable while driving at 1500-2000rpms. Everyday when I leave work I hear it in the parking garage and it is kinda loud. So the dealers don't give a f***. Guys, let's stick together and do something. Ford will listen if we get enough people together complaining about it. This...
Thats the report they gave me... Seriously, this is bullshit.
When they drove the car out of the shop I could hear the tick from 100ft away and it got faster with more RPMs... So how an expanding noise get faster when accelerating?
Coming from this thread https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/2017-mustang-gt-ticks.94661/page-5
Brought the car to the dealership today, they just called me and said it's caused by the aftermarket exhaust, the headers extracting and it's normal characteristics for the Coyote Engine. So I...
