I had already torqued down the lower when t happened. There was no way to be sure that chunks wouldn’t go into the cylinder. I pulled it back off of the car to keep everything safe. I also disassembled the core to make sure nothing was stuck inside of it.
I disagree with a turbo being a “hit.” Turbo torque swells very quickly, but it’s not exactly the same as a PD “hit.”
Two cars identical in every way with the exception of turbo vs PD blower on a roll at 2500rpm in 2nd go WOT at the exact same time: PD guy gets smashed into the back of the seat...
My VMP did the exact same thing. Had to drill it out and then use a pipe thread tap to clean up the threads. PITA! Take your time and it will be just fine.
I know there’s a huge debate between these and various other UHP summer tires, especially the MPSS and new MP4S. I made this video in reply to a thread in the forced induction section but thought I would post it here as well. Obviously this is only my opinion under real world conditions. The...
I decided to make a little video to demonstrate them. Please bear with me since it’s my first video ever with commentary.
I give up on trying to embed the video. If someone wants to, please feel free.
I would highly recommend the Continental Extreme Contact Sport. I have them in stock PP size and they handle my power just fine and are excellent in the wet.
3.73 is too much in my opinion. I am going through the traps in 4th on the rev limiter. That's with a Gen II-R and 82mm pulley. That and mufflers are the only mods. 3.31, half-shafts and tires are next on my mod list.
Vinny, with the VMP on a 2015+ they have you remove the under hood blanket. I see in the pics that it sort of seals against that creating its own lid per se. Would your recommendation be to reinstall the blanket and clearance it for the blower and pulley or just leave it off all together?
After installing my VMP I had serious traction issues in 2nd and sometimes in third. That was with the stock Pirelli P-Zeros (2015 GT PP). I just put on a brand new set of Continental ExtremeContact Sports (stock size) and I couldn't be happier. The car will dead hook most of the time in 2nd...
Mine is going in on Monday for Ford to do warranty repair for corrosion on the front right lip of the hood. It seems that it's a fairly common issue and Ford had no problem issuing the repair approval.
I know I'm biased, but I'm very happy with mine as well. You can not go wrong with any of the kits these days. All of them are very well engineered. Just pick what kind of power delivery you want and choose a system from there. You'll be happy no matter what.
