Thanks for sharing Tomster! Great videos and post.
Your R is set up almost identical to mine and I'm prepping for the 2019 season.
Can you share what alignment specs you are going with? (My home track is VIR)
Also, getting ready to swap transmission and rear diff fluid. Any insight to...
I get it, you like Ford. You should sell the HC if it's such a POS.
I believe he means on track. From car mag comparos (Lightning Lap), the Z28 is quicker than a GT350 R around VIR (Grand), albeit barely.
Odd, since my Sublime HC has been near flawless in 38k miles and I beat the crap out of it daily. The paint and fit/ finish are really good as well as being bulletproof mechanically. The passenger door alignment and hood were a bit off from factory, but was able to adjust easily. YMMV
I'm on the CF, same screen name (have owned numerous Vettes but I'm not even a C7 fan). I'm well aware of the issues (limp mode, etc), but no way the GT350 has better build quality. It's easily the worst build quality of anything I've purchased in the last 5 years. Love the car, but the...
Respectfully disagree...Paint (quality and finish), body panel gaps (front / rear bumper) and rattles in the GT350 are far worse than any C7 Z06 I've ever been in / driven. The GT350 is a $20k rental car in comparison.
I put MP4S tires on my CF wheels, had the MP4S tires on a square set of BC Forged initially for the street (but had an issue with the CF wheels) and now my CF wheels are used for street and rainy track days.
I have 305's MP4S on all corners of the CF wheels now. See pics.
Hard to give all the advantages / disadvantages without having more info from the OP. The R isn't all that easy to get into (compared to say a Hellcat). The HC may actually be a better choice depending on what the car will be used for. It's a large and comfortable torque monster. Handles...
I'd test drive one before jumping into the GT350. You are going from a car that weighs less, has a lot more power/performance and costs twice as much (better build quality). It's hard to see how you would walk away without being disppointed if you like the performace of the Z (and the open...
It's the best time of year to buy a sports car... Worst time of year to sell a sports/ track car.
The person selling the R purchased a C7 Z06, so he's unloading his R. As pointed it, it didn't meet his reserve. Values have gone down... a limited car turned into a 5 year production run.
I love my R and every time I think of selling it, I take it to VIR and it changes my mind. I do regret selling my 17 Viper TA 2.0 as I need something faster for the Super Advanced group that I've been running with.
Welcome to the party!
I have MP4S tires on a square set up (305's) on my CF wheels and they work great, would recommend them. If you are letting the Cup 2's go, I'll take them and will pay shipping.
This is a great forum and you'll get all your questions answered and more.
I'm sure you could get some rear seats from a GT350. Lots of track guys are selling their Recaros and rear seats when they gut their cars...
I'll even offer up my stock R rear seat delete panel (I used an aftermarket 3 piece delete kit as it was easier to install with the Watson).
