You have the "First Gen" or the newer "Compact" shifter? Install it yourself, or have someone do it? It will feel a little stiffer than the OEM, but it sounds like something's in a bind. Mine goes into all 6 gears smooth. You may want to give MGW a call, but check their site... might be closed...
